Recession, this is the main issue with our economy, we totally dependent on imported goods with minimal export except for oil forgetting that the prosperity of a nation is its resources output. The main solution is to go back to our agriculture. We should stop allude our failure to the government cos that will change nothing. We need proper orientation for sustainable economy.
ur arguments always fall under the "we" category. what have u personal placed on ground via agriculture, u advice in the comfort of ur room when u ve never harvested a corn of ur own... u speak naively about agriculture bcoz you feel it's less capital intensive... when u harvest a hecter of any crop u come back and continue ur campaign on agriculture ... agriculture is not the poor man thing as we thought in nursery school.

The economy is import based. We run a mono economy, depending mostly on oil. Banks have done great harm to the economy through money laundering and floating loans to oil thieves at the expense of long time investment into production sector. The cost of governance is too high for such economy. Stashed forex in local and foreign banks and warehouses

And you think in 2008 the whole nation lost their jobs?

That you have one now shouldn't make you glad. The unemployment rate just rose from 12 to 13% in one month, I am not sure if the year to date figure but a quick Google search would help you.

I guess those complaining(I.e almost everyone) just love noise making. The situation is bad, let's call a spade a shade.

No Economic strategy or solution will work at this stage for the Naira.

Industrial/ Technological strategy will do the trick.

We actually don't need more money to spend on importation, we need import substitution strategy that will reduce unemployment and put less pressure on the Naira-Dollar exchange rate.

Then Mr know it all, can u give us the highlights of how agriculture is done. This is Africa where everyone has his root from the village. U review others view before u post not from ur own illusion, I was brought up with real cocoa money where real agriculture is practice. So if I talk I know what I'm saying.

Can you guys just rest a little about this agriculture rants? we should stop alluding our failures to the government, then who do we allude them to? Is the environment conducive enough for agriculture to thrive? At least we have farmers in the country, how many are millionaires r talk more of being a billionaire? This politicians keep telling us to go back to agriculture while they loot the common wealth of the nation and some people like you also comes online to shout about this agriculture nonsense.... Even those in the agriculture line are shouting also, or have you not heard that poultry owners now ration the feeds of their birds, pigs, fishes and what have you. Hope you read the article very well, if all the factors listed by the author that led to this high inflation are corrected then I see no reason why we can't come out of this situation... In summary, Let the government make policies that are suitable and favourable for investors and business owners, not the on and off policies that they have been doing for over one year now.

Right now, i just wanna live my life. I don't care if this country sinks anymore. As long as i am okay, i have my generator, i have my cars, my house is still there and food dey my kitchen and my parents are well taken care of.

Dear Jonathan, even though you were never an option for me, i really wished you were the president i hoped you would be. I would never have voted against you!

See this as a fine tuning process. Kicking out Jonathan and come 2019 kicking out Buhari. We have to keep doing this until it sinks into the skulls of these politicians that power belongs to the people and hopefully genuine and visionary leaders wil arise. I just know that come 2019, I will neither vote PDP nor APC, they are equally useless.

Buhari was never part of the government during this period

there was structural looting and corruption but it wasn't this

No budget padding. The government did not publicly come
out to tell us the economy was in recession during that time
rather they said Nigeria has overtaken South Africa as the

Well written, text book economics, policy flip flops, and corruption won't ever let the CBN get it right. Who increases rates in recession?

“What we have is cost-put inflation and when you have cost-put inflation, it is structural inflation. It is not going to respond to monetary policy tools such as increasing the rate of interest.
