Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State addressed the World Igbo Congress held at Hilton, JFK Airport, New York.

Present at the gathering were Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Ogba of Ebonyi State, Dr Marcel Aja, Dr Semfo Nwankwo representing the Imo State Government, Dr Anthony Ejiofor, Executive Director of World Igbo Congress, Nze Joe Eto, Chairman Wirld Igbo Congress, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, SSG of Anambra State and a host of Igbo dignitaries.

Obiano's speech was received with standing ovation as he elucidated problems and solutions to myriads of Igbo questions and concerns.

It is painful that the federal government are ding projects in other region but not SE. All federal projects in the SE are places under PPP. The best option would have been to go for autonomy but that may not come easy.

But our people say, he who is refused does not refuse himself... We can open a kind of development fund...to develop ala Igbo. If we can get 2 million nwa afo Igbos worldwide, to contribute minimum of N500,000, that will amount to One trillion.

2,000,000 X 500,000= 1,000,000,000,000.

An international and local groups would be formed with precise road map to develop the SE zones as follows.

1. Road networks with, tolls crisscrossing all the major cities.

2. Rail network connecting Enugu-Umuahia-Aba-Owerri-Nnewi-Onitsha-Awka-Asaba-Abakaliki-Enugu

3. Power using coal and gas.

4. Agriculture with agro institutes in Abakaliki and Anambra.

5. ICT and communication

6. Manufacturing, tourism, sports, entertainment.

7. Real estate and High rise in the current state capitals.

8. Fund will be allocated to in equal measures and according to sectoral strategic prerequisite...without any state feeling cheated.

9. Industrial cities like Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi will receive special funds to develop their inner city roads...

Ndi Igbo this is feasible...The group managing the funds can even go for loans from multilateral institutions.

If these can be achieved the SE zone will become a hub of industrial attraction, and will make other Igbo investors to relocate to the east...
