Nice post. But how do one survive with this new-found-habit-of-salary-owing being exhibited by most employers, government sector not excluded.Even the oil and gas sector still feeling it.

Where the money dey to put for emergency savings? I feel like playing the Mandators song " Under Pressure".

Buhari or no Buhari the suffering would be almost the same or worse. All oil producing countries that depended heavily on oil ... are suffering...and those that did not ehmm... make hay while the sun was shining ... are suffering even more.
@topic.... my advice is to convert whatever cash you have to a stable foreign currency.... or to buy assets. As the currency devalues... so is the value or spending power of the money saved in the bank... the spending power of your salary. The rations you buy this month would cost more in a month's time. The price of everything would keep going up. Think about what you can export...even to Ghana.... earning g foreign exchange should be you aim. Been there done that..I'm out.

1. Change from your Brazilian hairs and extensions and buy weavons that are fairly priced.some are sold for N800 and the trick is .... You still look good.

2. You can plait your hair in adimole and buy wigs (800, 1000, 1500 etc) and change your looks as you desire

3.you can buy moderately priced perfumes instead of expensive ones

4. Learn to shave your beards yourself without having to visit the barber every now and then. Or better still , learn to have your hair cut yourself by investing in mirrors in your bathroom so you can have a total view of yourself while you cut.

5.it is not compulsory to buy every Aso ebi being offered to you. Always learn to say no especially when it is likely to strain your pocket.

6.instead of buying imported fruits like apple, kiwi, strawberry, grapefruits, patronize indigenous fruits such as orange, carrot, etc the more you take this the healthier and cheaper it is for you.

6.learn to cook the amount of food you can finish . In this period, wastage is not allowed.

7.for parents , you can look for moderately priced schools around your area if you think you can't afford the present school fees of your children. Remember that when the economy is much better you can always change to grange, international schools and the rest.

hmmm! What happens if after converting all your funds to dollars, and one day the government or CNN comes up with a policy that prevents dollar withdrawals, or some other useless policies that would still have the same or worse effect if you had saved in naira? That's my fear.

After so many terrible mistakes in managing our money we all wished there was a blueprint, a guideline or map to lead us to a place of financial freedom. That place where you don’t have to worry about money again-ever.

No matter what financial position you are right now, if you follow these commandments religiously (perhaps, almost), you’ll know how to manage your money effectively and have that financial freedom you’ve only hoped for.
