This biography lends credence to the story of the dominance of the Ijebus in areas like Shomolu, Bariga, Oyingbo, Ebute-metta, etc in the past.

What a story of the good old days of Nigeria populated by God fearing men and women. If it were this age, they will frustrate the man out of the job by falsehood and dubious character. People who contribute, N100 but will swear with Bible/Quaran that it was N1000 they contributed. And if that does not work, they will go to court to seek injunction restraining the man from operating until the substantive suit is heard! When shall truthfulness return to our country?

RIP to the foremost and famous thrift collector.

In fact, I was shocked to know that he died as recent as 2012; I thought he lived and died in the dark ages. So, Alajo Shomolu was not a myth afterall? God bless his soul

This is a brand name going to waste . . . in the states, this brand would have metamorphosed into a multi million dollar brand, minimum.

True, I grew up in the 70s, some part of the 80s and early 90s in the Somolu-Kosofe LG axis, and my mum and her friends are fond of the 'alajo Somolu' saying, but I never knew it was for real.

I can still remember Baba clearly. Growing up in the 80s/ early 90s @ Osho street adjacent olorunkemi street, later moved to popoola street, my mum was one of his consistent clients. One sure thing about baba was his ability to keep to time.

See a man that was barely educated contributed significantly to the the growth in peoples lifes.

But instead, people of useless generation are curse to nigeria.
They could not add any value to the country but rather they removed value from nigeria. They destroyed everything.

[size=18pt]Yoruba go just dey one side they claim title.
"Nigeria’s Most Famous Thrift Collector"
Do you have the slightest idea how big Nigeria is?
Did you conduct a survey before coming up with this conclusion?
Did you go to the North, South-South, South East, or Even other parts of the South-West to ask about his popularity?
Just goes to show how limited and frail your supposed intellectual abilities are, if you possess any.
Not saying he shouldn't be acknowledged for his good works or diligence, but making a far fetched claim like that is absolutely RIDICULOUS!

Never knew he really existed, wow!. anytime i did something smart in those days, I get to hear that phrase, not only from my mum, but from other women to other kids my age.
I can bet even our mothers don't know that the man really existed, you will probably be laughed at if you brought that idea up. That man's name traveled so fast with no social media!
