Afterall, how can people now afford to fuel their generators at #145 per litre, nearly 70% higher than before. There actually is already a brilliant alternative on the market, and one that will free you completely from the need to even visit a fuel station again.

From as little as #350 per day, every single Nigerian can have guaranteed 24 hours power to their homes, and never worry about NEPA or high fuel costs again. The rush for the solution had already been extremely high even before the price hike, but the last couple of days has been huge for new customer sign ups.

We very quietly launched this programme several months ago, as we wanted to test the response, and it has grown rapidly purely by word of mouth referrals. In view of the recent event, we could no longer keep quiet to the public about what's available to them.

I want to use this forum to enter into an enlightened discussion with my fellow Nigerians about the very simple options available to them in terms of getting 24 hours power, and not being affected by the huge fuel price increase. I really like this idea of pay-as-you-go because it gets people over the high initial costs. Furthermore the increasing prices (and lack of) fuel is making solar a more attractive option.

I really believe in the long-term take over of solar, so much so that I recently built a small building that was designed from the ground to be entirely solar with no option for gen or PHCN. Based on what we're seeing, our next build will also be entirely solar. Incidentally, your earlier posts made me aware of your company, which is what eventually led to my purchase from you.

I'm fully convinced that Nigeria (due to the lack of adequate infrastructure) can really lead the world in solar installations, which means a HUGE market waiting to be tapped and developed. However, I am worried that once again, we won't manufacture panels or batteries, but only be "mere marketers"*. There is potential for a group of solar-based companies to totally dominate the Nigerian and West African power industry over the next 20 years, potentially taking the place of the generator importer oligarchy.

Do you see a future where you (or some other Nigerian company) would start assembling panels, or making batteries locally? How would you make that transition from reseller to manufacturer?

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it. In response to your questions about local manufacturing, the answer is a resounding YES.

We will start loval battery manufacturing in August, and will be 100% vertically integrated by the end of 2017, with Solar Panel, Inverter and Charge Controller manufacturing to follow.
