There is no problem provided you are updating to a platform that is compatible.

Its not good for Tecno p5 cos the memory is small likewise the ram so it will make the phone to be slow and hanging

you want regular updates on android, buy a nexus, or an infinix android one
you are only guaranteed two years updates on samsung flagships only, and those updates may be over a year late
fragmentation has always been the bane of android, which is why you still see some people on jellybean today

I'm still enjoying my Android 4.4.2 device of 2years. Still great, no hitches. As long as it's working fine, your Android 7 or whatever doesn't move me. However, I enjoy updating my Lumia... Rocking Redstone 2, no glitches after each update

Some customer ROM might have one or two issues. Updated my hot note with a custom ROM via mtk toolz and now one or two apps would never install, probably there is a solution I don't know of yet tho. Before the update it was installing fin.

same thing with me o .. Particularly instagram.. Though I later did.. Thanks to some gurus.. But am kinda skeptical on downloading the latest update OTA.. Cos of my data.. So it won't wipe off

The most stable android OS, are GingerBread and Kitkat. For best result if u are rocking on Stock rom outofthebox don't update, otherwise; u will confront diff problems except if u are smart. Just root and use custom roms.

is there are update option in your p5? if no, how do you plan to update it? I am using a tecno h5 n will love to update it.

just search for the 8.0 version.. It will work.. I meant the apk file. My phone keeps giving me update notification about firmware.. Don't wanna update it.. I was afraid it may wipe my data

Thanks I never even bother to check my system update...

The OTA update can correct some bugs tho..

Updating your phone makes it proof to known issues that have been fixed. Known issues are hacked at by bad people and when that is not the case, you don't want to be having issues with your phone when others don't.

However, updating phones can introduce new issues - rarely though, or it may refresh your phone's behaviour. But I'd say always update.

Firmwares are software that control the operation of the device hardware, you can say the mobile "drivers" in this case. They are often small n purpose of update is to fix an hardware programme.

Am sure you know all about the OS it self. So they are different.

It is safe and convenient. I received update notification. I just updated my tecno C7. The effect is that it enhanced most features and apps in my phone. A new look and better function. Just ensure you have a good micro SD with enough space. Also enough energy to ensure you are not trapped during installation or better stay close to power source.
