We will continue to import Nikel same way we import Petrol and every other natural resource we have in abundance. The world's system of things is set up that way. The world is set up to keep on exploiting third world countries forever.

We will continue to be poor in Africa and will continue to depend on white people to do everything, UNLESS we learn science which will lead us to technological and industrial development.

Unless we re-invent education in Africa and learn science enough to be able to be in charge of minning our own Nikel, forget about development. We will continue to be peasants to the Australian company who have the technology to mine Nikel. The said Australian company would make more money from the Nikel than the Nigerian government, just as the oil companies do.

Instead of us thinking about how to process the nickel into finished products - a process that will create employement and reduce trade deficit - we are allowing our current economic predicament becloud our thinking process. I strongly suggest we process it into finished products and sell to the world for a far higher profit as against export of raw nickel. This is the logical thing to do going by the claim that the nickel is of unusually high quality.
