While a lot of people I know are looking for ways to take advantage of the recession to develop their personal economic base by thinking out of the box, you are busy on naira land wasting your time and life.

I'm afraid the region that will benefit the least from the opportunities this current recession is throwing up are the SE people. The truth is the more you whine and complain, the less you do to help pull the nation out of the recession.

In the southwest , a lot of people who have lost their jobs are going into agriculture and manufacturing right now.These include my very self. Many who still have their jobs are even planning to resign so that they can go into production because they believe it will better their lives than working for somebody else.

I see the southwest coming out better and stronger when this recession is over. I also hope some people will not be crying marginalisation then seeing they are doing nothing now other than whine and complain.

Where do we get most of the rice we eat in Nigeria, despite the huge land resources we have?

Cotton is grown in Nigeria in abundant but were do we get our textiles from?
How much do they build and equip a world class hospital? A single Nigerian saved $15000000, for medical bills abroad, our President even went outside the country to treat ordinary ear infection!

Yea, I'm aware of all the above. It actually does seem foolhardy to hope the tide will change, that the leaders will get better, that change will begin with "us.". But after our own little efforts, which are sometimes insignificant, what more can we do but hope and pray?

...my brother,Nickel is beyond the control of government as people think, there would be government industries as well there would be private industries, no government import stainless home materials into the country today, it is unlike oil, we will use Nickel raw material from Nigeria Nickel exploitation industry in our finished product industries like welder use ion steel!

We need to come up with a Nigeria-centric plan for exploitation and production of Nickel.

We must use the crude oil as an example and produce a plan that will see Nigeria and Nigerians maximize the benefits of such natural resource.

Firstly, come up with the whole value chain for Nickel.

Secondly, attract foreign investment for all the value chain for Nickel and setup policies and laws that will make it a success.

Thirdly, develop a local content law for Nickel ensuring Nigerians and Nigerian Company are allowed 60% local content.

Fourthly, make sure only finished items of Nickel are exported. If you want it, Come into Nigeria. Make your setup, Produce and export from Nigeria.

Fifthly, ensure proceed from the sales of Nickel is not shared like is the case for crude oil.
Plan for post Nickel resources, by ensuring proceed are sovereign bonded or saved at least 30%.

70% of the proceed should be used according to the following plan:

1. Immediately initialise, pay in full will a delivery time line of 18months a nothing less than 40,000 MW power plan.
2. Ensure nothing less than 36 cities upgrade in infrastructure, utilities and lifestyle living which will attract the tourism much needed for our country plus forward looking in project involved in so that we can meet pragmatism as well as aesthetics.
3.Complete the Nigeria Integrated transport master plan with a 5 years in mind.
4. Create the Nigeria-centric society where Nigeria work for Nigerians and the sheer fact you are a Nigerian means your life is secured at least from the dividend from our sovereign investments.
5. Complete the Ajaokuta Steel plant was a lateral-integration for Nickel produce.

Anything short of these means we are not learning from our mistakes and it is better we do not tap the resources as it will amount to waste of good resource as well as remarkable opportunity to come out of our poor statehood.

Good contribution unlike the unpatriotic whiners and complainers.

For instance, since the price of imported rice has risen, a smart investor would go and invest in the local rice chain. Seek out local rice producers and get the price per bag. Contact nearby restaurants and bulk buyers and promise to supply them at wholesale price with the option of payment on delivery. Even if you advertise local rice on NL, you are sure of plenty customers.

Instead of benefitting from the opportuinty above, they prefer to drink N10 garri and use it to insult Buhari on NL.

Another opportunity in the Nickel industry is here again and some block.heads that posted above are fixated on fighting Buhari and wishing Nigeria fails.

Sometime ago during the telecoms boom in Nigeria, an very smart Nigerian who I respect so much formed a company called Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services (EMTS). He put the basic corporate structures on ground and ran it as a startup.

Subsequently, he approached some Arab investors to invest in his company. These Arab investors were impressed in his company that they decided to buy a part of it. Today, that company is Etisalat Nigeria and he owns 40% of Etisalat Nigeria.

Don't make the mistakes your fathers made. Seek out opportunities and take advantage of them.

1. You need to cut the government a whole lot of slack. If this is not a move towards industrialisation, then what is?
2. The government said they will pursue diversification and pointed to the mining industry as one of the areas of focus. They have done something our governments in the past 30years failed to do.
3. The Ministry of Mines and Steel recently launched a new roadmap. I bet you both have not read the document. I think it is important that step back at times as reassess what we think or say. Let's imagine that people are working in the background and a whole lot to get us to "Nikel"......and the work continues
