I want start a poultry farming and my capital is around 200k, pls i need your advice for choosing the best, easier and cheaper one between chicks (i.e. Broilers) and fish farming. Thank you for the help.

Yes i have a room that is 26 by 13 feet long which is under repaire now and the cost of the repairing is out of that 200k.

One of my offline friend gave me an estimate of rearing 100 broilers for upto 8wks (maturity for market) and i would like to share it with you friends. If you are ready follow me. I asume you have a place to keep them already.

1) Price of a DOC= N200x100DOCs=N20,000
2) Feed that will be consumed by a chick for 8wks=5kgx100chicks=500kg.
3) Note that a bag of the feed is 25kg, therefore 500kg/25kg=20bags.
4) The cost of a feed bag=N3,000x20bags=N60,000
5) DRUGS AND VACCs will cost N7,000
Total=87,000

Nice one Muddas00,I will lke to ask,d feed include both the broiler starter and finisher abi,which of the feed are u using.

Pls I'm also interested in this, is there anywhere one can go for training on poultry farming. I'm in Port Harcourt.

Presently the estimate giving can't work because :
100broiler will consume more than 5kg for 8wks.
The price for the cost of broiler is BTW #23-250 now.
Fit better profit on broiler you have to use Complete method feeding formulation or Nutritionist method unless you will not have a god profit margin at the end.
If you target 8wks of brooding you must have a wide range of experience on it to have a good weight at the time something around 3.2-3.5 body weight. There's a farm I've visited here in Port Harcourt that can provide you with training, the name is Ibiteinye farms located around Eleme junction/Oyigbo. They are into fishery, pigery, poultry and allied farming.
