Although I must commend his boldness in declaring the war, we must also note that he made wrong choices which led to the crumbling of his Republic. A celebrated General is one with victory. Subbway101: At least Ojukwu declared his people a free nation and fought the combined military might of Nigeria, Britain and Russia for 3 years before running away. What did other leaders of the time like Awolowo, Adeyinka Adebayor, David Ejoor, Enahoro,obasunjo etc all do? They all raised their hands in surrender as the monumental cowards they all were and chanted: "Please Mr Northerner, spare my life! I remain your eternal slave and servant of one Nigeria" At least Ojukwu fought, these ones surrendered even before any gun shot. |
