I do that too grin count weekly instead of monthly! My son will be 10 months on Sunday 25th, but weekly he will be ten months on Wednesday 21st( I delivered on a Wednesday).
Same issue applies to pregnancy duration 10 months or 9 months.

Thanks mamas will try your suggestions.

I usually make scrambled eggs for him which he loves so today's own I decided to mix milk into the eggs and he ate it!! Problem is the milk is not formula but full cream Oldenburg milk lipsrsealed he is too young for regular milk nah? So I made another with formula and he also ate smiley so I guess it's fried milk from now on till he gets tired of it or starts taking his milk normal.

To be honest i think once they pass the 6 months mark, dont kill yourself whether they take milk or not.

The only reason they do not recommed normal cows milk for under 1 year is that it lacks the long list of nutrients a growing child of that age needs... plus it is very high in calcium which will inhibit the absorbtion of iron.

Also remember that formular is essentially cows milk fortified with all the orisirisi. And from 6 months it is advised that milk is no longer the main food for a baby. They should be getting most of their nutrients from solids and the milk is just a supplement once weaning has been established.

You may just need to start giving some multivitamins with his solids and give more water to ensure he is getting fluids.

For the sake of tooth decay, dont be tempted to give juice (even diluted) in a feeding bottle.

Happy Sunday to all the sabi MAMAs and Pappas in the house,I had been trying to answer this question within me but no answer
is it after 6months of EBF that one start to introduce solid food like amala etc or one will start with formula and cereal?

Well, before the introduction of cereals, formulae or other western foods.... babies all over nigeria and the rest of the world were and are still being weaned with variations of local foods.

Once a baby clocks 6 months you can start introducing other foods. I dont believe there is a rule, do what works for you. The only thing is to introduce foods slowly and watch out for allergies and reactions. Omit spices at the start i.e. pepper, salt, maggi and the like. even crayfish and stuff, introduce gradually and watch for allergies. Shellfish allergies and even lactose intolerance or intolerance to gluten are all things that may crop up and we are wonderimg why the baby always poos or appears uncomfy after eating.

There are a few foods to avoid till the children are at least 1 year Like honey, raw meats/fish, unpastuerised milk products and the like.

But all in all. There is no rule
As long as your baby likes the food, has no reactions, is happy and healthy, whether amala, cerelac, millet pap, cow&gate multigraine cereal or aptamil 2 ... it dont matter.

I have bought that powered Pap it didn't taste like Pap to me at all! Plus I didn't get that aroma peculiar to Pap. The powder felt more like custard to touch so I'm guessing it's custard and not Pap like they claim.

Funny enough i've been compelled to drink just the powdered pap for a few months now and it tastes just the same! At least it eliminates the stress of milling and sieving for the fresh type.

I prefer milling myself though so i can add cloves and ginger!

A year has 52 weeks.

A calendar month ranges between 28/29 days ton 30 and 31 which is longer than 4 weeks/28 days.

Therefore an average month is actually 4.333333 weeks not 4 weeks ( only february follows this 4 week rule)

That is why 40 weeks of pregnancy can be actually calculated as 9 months using the 4.33 week or calendar months basis or 10 months using 4 week basis. .

So your mum is right. Your baby is 4 weeks but will be one month based on a calendar month which is a few days longer than 4 weeks.

Hello mamas. Pls has anyone else experienced this? My LO still has a very tiny lump on the immunization site on his left lap from the 6weeks injection. That spot is also dark and left a scar.
He is taking the 10weeks immunization tomorrow and i'm just bothered.

Could it be carelessness from the nurse? Because i can remember the place was very rowdy and the woman wasn't taking her time to give babies injection. Immediately she removes the needle, she will just tap you to get up fast, without giving you time to press down on the site.

Should i have used a private hospital? I also didnt rub or press the site after i got home. I just let it be.

You're not supposed to rub it after. Max is to place something pretty cold against the swelling. I think the lump is normal, but I'm not sure.

Didn't experience such with my son ,I think you should see a doctor when you go for the 10 weeks vaccines.
My son own did swell and was told to place a wet cloth on it and no scar or tissuing occurred.
Have him checked out please.

Doesn't matter whether it's private or govt hospital any nurse or doctor can make mistake.

Sometimes it's normal for the vaccines to react like that. I know it's normal for bcg.
Show it to them again, maybe get there early enough and talk to someone but her.

The lump will still go down and the dark mark will fade. It happened because of the way she gave the injection. Tomorrow show them so that they can be more careful. Doooo

Good evening everyone.

Abuja mommies please who knows FMC Jabi immunisation days? Someone told me Tuesday and Thursday but I remember we took our BCG there on a Monday, and there were older children around for their own shots.

Also how do I make sure they give my baby PCV and Rota? I guess I should ask before making payment? I don't want repeat of our 12 weeks where I did not know clinic did not give those shots. They did not even mention anything, I was taken completely unawares when I got home and saw only two out of 4 shots were ticked.

Thank you for your responses.

@Onegai we're still digesting the best way to crowdpush for our rights. As for the labour law, that one really affects me because my organisation sticks with the most basic provisions of the law and they can't be faulted for that, after all if my country does not love me, why should they? My dear not being sacked for needing maternity leave was a big sign that they appreciate my role lol.

Their immunisation is mondays to fridays but for rotavirus and pcv its Wednesdays and thursdays.

PCV is now free as well but it was explained why they still take money for the other type of PCV. This means that they give two types there, one u pay for (10,500) and the other is free so its d mothers choice to pick one. I told d nurse nobody will see fre pcv and take d one that reauires payment and she explained to me that the free one has 10 extrigents (abi wetin dem dey call am) and the paid one has 13 extrigents. That they r still experimenting d free pcv but that mothers dont kno, all they care about is that its free so give my child is all they hear lol.

Rotavirus is 7k there.

If u r takin the paid pcv and rota only pls dont pay any money down stairs. Just walk upstairs, take a number and ask for the room they administer special vaccine ( thats what they call it) u will pay for them at d point of collection.

If its d free pcv and any other like penta and d rest, pay 200 naira downstairs b4 going upstairs.

Cheers
