Please what do we need this american dollar for? To send the children of the looters to expensive school's and holidays ,to import Gucci bags used cars,to import flour for bread and rice ,so we can import as substandard Chinese products and sell it at that throat cut prices so we can create forums on nairaland and write pamphlets on how to import Pampers from China and sleepers , instead of empowering local manufactures to bring in equipments so they can convert our raw materials God has given us to finished goods so we can export as well and make the naira Strong, look this country needs an industrial revolution.

Its not just the naira.
Our RESERVES are kept in dollars, as with most countries in the world, the USD being the strongest currency. There are also reserves in the pound, and the Japanese yen used to have a little 'weight', but the dollar is stronger than them all. So its relation to the naira is very important to us.

I'm a trader. Amateur though. I trade with a Cent account because I'm still learning. I've PMd you since talking about fx trading isn't allowed on nairaland.

The major reason why Nigerians are crazy over foriegn currency is as a result of lost in the vaule of our local currency, for example back in the days wen I use to trade online forex, I bought dollars @ 169 per $ in the yr 2012 i.e $3000 "black mkt" and today dat same dollar is $425, if I had left the money in the bank in naira, do u think I would have made all dat huge profit? No,

Finally, the current vice president is equally holding some of his assets in dollars.
