Despite calculated attacks by some militants, Nigeria’s oil production has increased from a daily average of 1,570,852 barrels per day in the last three weeks to a current week production of 1,752,536bpd, recording additional 181,684 barrels per day, Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu has said.

The Minister, who gave the figure at the Presidential Quarterly Briefing with the Private Sector Stakeholders at the State House on Monday, attributed the increased output to current ceasefire efforts his office initiated with traditional rulers and leaders in the Niger Delta.

Kachukwu said that with sustained peace in the Niger Delta it would be possible to grow production to N1.8 million barrels per day by next month and reach 2 million bpd by December.

The Minister announced that in order to ensure stability in the oil sector of the economy, the Federal Government would work with the National Assembly to fast-track the passage of the Petroleum Industry Reform Bill, PIB, which has been facing difficulty of passage since the previous National Assembly.

E-Diot, how many attacks have occured since your last count. Have you forgotten that Niger Delta Avengers have decided to give you some reprieve. If they resume their activities, you will be lucky to produce 900,000BPD.

Nigeria is like a dysfunctional family. Everyone is looking for attention. Posting scandalous things that even they don't believe in, or blowing things up. Strange thing is those that are sick believe they are the normal ones.

A good dose of suffering will set everyone straight.

Very Silly. The oil output increased since last 3 weeks according to Kachikwu, so why hasn't recession being abated? if we are to follow osinbajo's logic? Oil price has increased, total output increased, total revenue from other sources has increase, 1.5trn saved from subsidy removal and so on, and yet this govt keeps sinking Nigeria in Dept and Recession with silly policies, incapacitations and cluelessness.

But the excuse proned government of Buhari would have us believe that the militants are responsible for the current recession.

Someone should remind that "pastor" what the bible says about liars.

Kachikwu and Osinbajo contradicting each other...

They are not.

Osinbajo said Militants are contributing to recession.

Kachi said Daily production has increased. Remember that Avengers ceased fire for weeks now

How are those two statements contradictory.

Announcing it for them to do the needful again. Why must they always talk when things are yet to balance??. That was how we were jubilating on the other day about increase in generated megawats, and same day, i met an elderly PHCN staff and i was discussing the issue with him, the man with all assurance was saying it will crash within 2 days. I was like do this man know what he was saying or an enemy of progress??
he said it would crash. And what do we have now?? More than crash. He said they were trying to force power transmitting on weak lines and poor distribution. Yeah he was right. We have almost total darkness. He said he is tired of granting press because people at the helm of affairs are not being truthful. The nearest solution to this, as he said is that they should allow anybody that want to invest into power sector independently should be allow to operate freely to bring in new willing investors, which i agree with him. We need competitors, and not destroyers and thieves ......
