A lot of people feel comfortable with shared hosting, I know first-hand and this is partly because of the cost of dedicated hosting/purchasing a VPS and also because of the high learning curve attached to operating such "complex systems". In this course, I will show you how easy it is to manage and configure AWS EC2 VPC's, how to setup instances and how you can host your websites yourself and view it on the web without having to purchase a domain name...yeah, you heard me right.



Before diving in, I'd like you to understand that the famous talk people have about having knowledge of a linux distribution such as Red Hat, Devian, Ubuntu before using AWS shouldn't worry you if you don't know any linux command because you can as well run a Windows OS instance, but you still need some basic knowledge of linux commands and the filesystem, no matter how little.



The technical mumbo-jumbo:

AWS - Amazon Web Services

EC2 - Elastic Compute Cloud

ECS - EC2 Container Service

EIP - Elastic IP

DNS - Domain Name System

VPC - Virtual Private Cloud



Other technical stuff will be explained as I use them.



In order to get yourself familiar with AWS, Amazon gives you access to the EC2 for a year. First step is to learn more about AWS EC2 and sign up https://aws.amazon.com/free/ .

that is not totally true, although, some instance are around that figure but u can get as low as $10 per month which is about $0.013 or hour, though like I said, it depends on what u want!!

I'd like to say when it comes to pricing, DigitalOcean has the edge. Free $10 credit if you were referred, I had a free $10 credit when I first signed up and spinned up a droplet in no time after verifying my credit-card.

Yes digitalocean is great as a VPS, and even linode but they have this credit card or PayPal issue, and then if u need to scale to swarm of servers, it might not be a smart choice like AWS, but then, how often do we scale to that extent, so by and large, for any startup, immediately u exhaust ur aws free tier, just switch to digitalocean till u need to scale massively!!
