The difference between the developed countries and shitholes like Naigeria is in those countries they understand that their most important resources is the human resource. and measures are put in place to develop their human capacity to move their countries forward and we can see the dividends. In naija however the most important resources will remain crude oil and other mineral reaources and thats why the government will pump billions into exploration and securing mineral interest with little or no money towards developing education or improving health. the govt willsacrifice the well being of her citizens for mineral resources even the citizens are not left behind as they happily encourage foreigners to exploit them for money |

mrvitalis:Brother am sure we all have lived long enough to know that if even if we start producing 10million barrels a day it wont change anything. Nigeria as the big brother in Africa is managed by intelligent slaves to the western nations. Africa has a refining capacity of less than 4% of the world's total. Majority of the African nations import refined products from the west. We should be clamouring for refineries and not exploration anymore. We should never export a barrel of crude oil again till we are able to satisfy the African market with refined fuel. An initiative like this will ensure that African wealth remains in Africa and watch out as the naira becomes the African dollar. But our Harvard trained technocrats will never think towards this direction because they are slaves to the Western world. Kachiukwu once said that it's cheaper to import fuel than to refine in Nigeria. |

mrvitalis:Although it sounds nice but each country under OPEC has a quota to produce per day. If every country decides to increase her production that way there will be too much oil and the price will crash even futher |

rusher14:Am aware of that... Dangote's refinery is still not enough. Not sure if it will even take the continent's refining capacity to 10% of the world's total. |

I get angry when I read pieces of news like this one. Aside from the need to diversify into non-oil sector in other to reduce significantly the dependence on oil revenue, Government should encourage companies to find new oil as means to beef up the depleted reserves! It's there; untapped resources. Companies may need to expand their horizon, drill deeper where necessary and Government should be ready to give some tax reprieve where necessary to encourage increased exploration efforts. Production sharing contract terms should also be looked into so that E&P companies can be buoyed to invest more in technologies aimed at finding new oil. |

Na local governments be that? As in do they have people living in those local governments to be catered for? The ones with people living there, have they catered for them? The fact is, if you visit or just drive past those places, you won't see any single soul. The people fend for themselves where you are lucky to find some. Corruption in Nigeria is too endemic to be eradicated. To successfully eradicate corruption, first of all eradicate all those fake structures we got running in the name of governance. Lakeland4321: |
