| Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Patchesagain: 4:56pm On Oct 03, 2016 |
iblawi:1. "Light multi-role" is a class you just made up 2. Gripen is swing role 3. Gripen is superior in every single way, how is a thing that is better comparable? No, they are not a match for the c/D and no there is nothing in the development schedule to suggest it will compare to the E/F The fatal flaw of your argument is that you say it is too expensive, yet people keep buying it (80) despite the existence of your "cheaper and just as good" JF-17 This is a childish argument, why are certain people obsessed with comparing two fighters that will never combat each other? |

the operationalization of LCA did not take over three decades as some critics maintain. they incorrectly cite august 22 1983 as the start of the LCA project when GOI allocated Rs. 560 crores for feasibility studies and project definition only. infact it was only in april 1993 when the GOI sanctioned full scale engineering development (FSED) of LCA and provided funds to build two fighters as technology demonstrators. A SERIOUS BUT HILARIOUS READ BEHIND THE TRIALS AND TABULATIONS OF THE CLAW TEAM WHICH DEVELOPED THE LCA FLY BY WIRE CONTROL LAWS (CLAW). First they were denied technology by the West. ![]() They took it in their stride and decided to go the desi way. ![]() Then came the mother of all shocks. ![]() Some of them wanted to get married, but the prospective brides ran away, thanks to their plight. Marriage proposals vanished from the radar at supersonic speeds. ![]() Down, but not out, they stuck as one team chasing a national dream set by A P J Abdul Kalam in 1992. Their mission: To build fly-by-wire flight Control Laws (CLAW) for the Light Combat Aircraft (Tejas) programme. In 1992, ADA floated a global tender seeking consultancy for developing six critical technologies, including developing CLAW for Tejas. They got responses for all five technologies, barring CLAW, which nobody was willing to part with India due to its strategic nature,” recalls NAL's acting director, Shyam Chetty. It was on June 2, 1992, when Dr. APJ Kalam had his first meeting of the CLAW clan in Bangalore, with CSIR-NAL as the nodal centre. “We started everything from ground zero and Dr Kalam had a huge impact on us. Most of the team members worked for close to 18 hours every day. We are delighted that today our CLAW is one of the successful part of Tejas that is getting into the Indian Air Force's inventory. We have completed all parameters for the initial operational clearance (IOC) phase,” said Shyam. In the process, the CLAW team also mastered Wake Encounter Simulation – a critical area for the Tejas programme. “Wake simulation is a very complicated and challenging modelling control problem. Aerodynamics is simulated by splitting the aircraft into seven components and computing forces and moments on each component,” said NAL sources. ADA sources told that the CLAW team has made the life of pilots simpler. “He is fed only what he needs. The HOTAS (Hands on Throttle-And-Stick) ensures that the pilot is at absolute ease during his mission,” sources said, adding, “Tejas is an unstable platform and it is CLAW that acts as its brain.” The success story of CLAW did not come easy for those involved. The bad publicity that Tejas got in early days and low salaries ensured that most of the team members (men) had a tough time in finding suitable brides. “Yes. It's true and many of our team mates faced this problem. Our job profile was such that no father dared to give her daughter. Some of my colleagues even had to undergo counselling. All that is past and we are all happily married now. But can't believe how 20 years flew past,” said a senior NAL scientist. ![]() |

The RPO-A Shmel (Russian: RPO-A Bumblebee) is a man-portable rocket launcher, although it is classified as a flamethrower by the manufacturer, KBP, Tula. The RPO-A is a single-shot, self-contained tube shaped launcher that operates much like some RPG and LAW rocket launchers. The launcher is a sealed tube, carried in a man-pack in pairs. The same person can remove the tube, place it in firing position, and launch the weapon without assistance. After launch, the tube is discarded. All models are externally similar. Ammunition Each weapon contains a single rocket, of which there are three varieties. The basic rocket is the RPO-A, which has a thermobaric warhead and is designed for attacking soft targets under moderate cover. The RPO-Z is the incendiary warhead designed to spread fire and ignite targets. Finally, there is a smoke-producing warhead offered, the RPO-D. A recent development is the improved RPO-M "Shmel-M" that was shown for the first time at Eurosatory 2006. This version is quite similar to the original weapon, but has a calibre of 90 mm and a weight of 8.8 kg. Its launcher is reusable. The system has better ergonomics and uses an improved rocket with better ballistics and terminal effect and with a maximum range of 1,700 m. The "Shmel-M" is also known as RPO PDM-A. a good weapon to toast terrorists . it was used recently to great effect.

Patchesagain:rader are upgradeable on both planes,it just matter of time.who upgrade first.some specs information are classified .probably only pilot or top official knows.open source may not be credible. meteor missle seems an advantage over current JF-17's untill PL-15 upgrade. JF-17 was not likely designed to encouter Gripen by now So it's meanless an argument on them |
