older cars used dextron II or III, newer cars require a different blend. Pic below is what I use for power steering, the the other is for honda transmission(non -cvt)notice the steering fluid is clear, while the transmission oil is pink

I don't think the response to the OP's question needs any long technical grammar. The answer is simply yes.

OP, drive into any petrol station of your choice and ask them to give you power steering fluid and ATM fluid.

Yes and No. I said so because Oyibos use the recommended oil for power steering and transmission respectively while Nigerian 'Kazeems' use the same transmission oil as power steering oil.

In the absence of the pix ramdris posted I use the DW-1 for my power steering.

If you can start using one with a better sealed container, I will advise you to go for it. The last time I bought an Automatic Transmission fluid with a container like this, I had to take my car to a mechanic to bleed it out. The reason was because, it was a fake. The original content had been changed. Good luck!

No Honda doesn't tolerate that.
After a few days it will start making a whining noise each time you turn the steering.

shocked shocked

Most manuals will clearly instruct you not to use ATFs for steering fluids, but few Nigerian car owners bother to read their car manuals.

Transmission fluids are clearly different from steering fluids.

Look for a way to get rid of it. Automatic transmission fluid is for your gear an not power steering.

Pls consult your car manual asap before you spoil something. The viscosity of those two oil are not the same meaning they have different features and serve different purpose. I doubt the temperature in in your gearbox is same with that of power steering system.

If possible don't drive the car or stop driving it until you get things sorted out.
