Rediscover Imo@40: Rochas Okorocha Road Revolution. You Can't Beat The Reach. by UzuegbuProsper(op):
REDISCOVER IMO@40:
ROCHAS ROAD REVOLUTION

There is no gain stating the obvious that, in the whole of Southeast region of Nigeria, no governor has carried out road construction work in the past five years as His Excellency, Anayo Rochas Okorocha.

Indisputably, one major constraint of the Rescue Mission Government has been that of having a favourable weather condition to carry out, as many roads construction, as possible, this, geographers say, is not unconnected with the coastal landmark of the state which witnesses only three months of dry season.

No doubts, the governor has since demystified the order, taken advantage of the bad situation,Owelle constructs roads in the rains, a feat many are yet to comprehend.

Notwithstanding, over 2,800km of roads have been constructed in the past five years by this administration, including 1Km in each of the 27 council areas, making it the first time, any government in the state had taken such gigantic stride in rural road development alone.

Prior to 2011,the only major road in Owerri capital city was primarily,Port-harcourt -OWERRI road. One could hardly forget the traffic gridlock, the incessant accidents caused by break failure, orchestrated by lorries and trailers. The fumes from fuel tankers and recklessness of dare devil drivers along the only highway then could only be imagined.

Unfortunately, we have all forgotten so soon;
yes,we have forgotten how Owelle pulled down story buildings at the back of Lagos street by new market to make way for what is now,Sam Mbakwe road stretching from Warehouse junction down to Emmanuel college making it possible for a link road, again, for the first time.

How can we forget, the 1st inland road, where you have the popular Umuezuruike Hospital...a well known den for criminals & armed robbers who hid in the thick bushes of Nwories water fronts to kill and maimed unsuspecting traders on a daily basis? Again, Owelle created a road where there was none.

Then, came the 2nd,3rd,4th inland, and at the moment,5th tunnel road ongoing, with a bridge transcending P/Harcourt road crisscrossing the Nwaorie River to the new link road directly opposite Rapport Hotel by Orlu road.

These Connecticut of roads network is the first of its kind in Imo state. Not even the past administrations in the last 39years of Imo state envisaged this unique vision.

While, you are preparing to tell me,how some roads built by Owelle has developed potholes,do not fail to understand that; a man who has shoes but keeps complaining of not having the right size is nothing compared to an amputee who has neither legs nor shoes...that is the condition of most States you might likely to compare with Imo.

We may not understand what the governor must have gone through in providing us with access roads today, until we go to nearby states where there is none even with their 13% oil derivation.Besides,it is easier to patch a pothole than think of starting a new road from the scratch.

I want to assure you that,in the coming weeks,as dry season sets in,Governor Okorocha will release his magic wane on the old,new and dilapidated roads, and behold, many shall testify to these wonderful works of the Great Grand Commander Of Free Education in Africa.

Who is this OP stranger to Imo state? Which road revolution? Abi na road revolution in Okorocha's capital city?

Move down to Orlu or to Okigwe and see where once developing cities are literally stopped from development by a state governor through the cities roads scrapped and abandoned for four years going by the governor's contractors.

Okorocha remains holed up in Government House Owerri.

Okorocha has just invited the rest of Imo state to come to live in his beloved city, Owerri and claim the city, perhaps from natives.
Little did he know that beginning 26 May 2019, natives of Owerri shall take him as another stranger living in Owerri and must pay tributes to Owerri people to be allowed to remain in Owerri -,like every stranger must pay tax to remain.

There are many roads yet to be done but Okorocha has done a lot in many interior villages that hitherto had no tarred roads. The issue I have is the cut and join method instead of planned road networking.

It does not lead to State house. If I start posting roads done by Okorocha we shall get to 100 pages and counting. The truth remains that many people are busy looking for anything to fault his achievements but his achievements are too glaring to be swept under the carpet. This is Nworie layout built by Okorocha too.
