If you think travelex will make dollar fall in black market, na dream u dey dream.

The black market will fall a little bit but "we" the 'normal' citizens can't buy at 365/$.

Travelex can't meet our demands and as time goes on, their rate will be compititing with akok.i rate.

I remember when Nigerians and nlders were hoping to get $ at 250 when we were waiting for cbn new forex rule, hope na remember? Dollar fell within that week and climbed up back after few days.

Have u asked where travelex will be getting their dollars to feed a whole Nigeria that depends on importation? Nigerians in diaspora are wise now and they aren't ready to sell their currency to low ballers agents.

Demand is higher than supply; if cbn cant meet our demands, travelex cant cos we have just one importer in naija that can buy their weekly $45m they will be selling to bdc

Dont forget we are in Nigeria where nothing works.

Onatisi, please explain the impact of travelex's new rate on the economy. They are selling at #365 today as against the #475 the sold earlier in the week

Will rates drop generally?
Is this part of Saraki's jubilation?

Don't mind them. They are only bidding for time . There is no shortcuts to this problem other than the nation start producing for export and consumption. There are many questions ppl aren't asking. The dollars travelex is selling comes from where?
After selling it at this price ,how will they repatriate their profits? Will they take naira back abroad?
Govt said they were borrowing money in October from foreign bodies and all of a sudden Travelex is starting in the same month. This is a temporary measure with the hope that the oil price will rise and secondly they would have secured the Niger delta area.

Govt said they were borrowing money in October from foreign bodies and all of a sudden Travelex is starting in the same month. This is a temporary measure with the hope that the oil price will rise and secondly they would have secured the Niger delta area.

98 9900:
Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe, President, Association of Bureau de Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON), on Friday said it was illegal for his members to sell a dollar above N356.

Gwadabe made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said that the sale of dollar by Travelex to BDCs was already impacting positively on the market as the Naira had sustained gains at the major segments of the foreign exchange market.

He said that as at 4 p.m. on Friday, Travelex had sold 15, 000 dollars each to no fewer than 1,000 BDCs and that the sale was ongoing, adding that “last week, it sold 10,000 dollars each to about 850 BDCs.

“Any BDCs selling above N356 to a dollar is an infraction on our agreement and should be reported to the association or law enforcement agents for appropriate sanctions.’’

Gwadabe said that to ensure transparency in dollar sales, ABCON had advised their customers to ensure that the rate at which they bought foreign exchange was stamped on their travelling document.

NAN reports that since the resumption in the sale of foreign currencies by Travelex, a licensed International Money Transfer Organisation (IMTO), the naira had been on a path of recovery.

The currency had been appreciating at the three major segments of the foreign exchange market, a development that has raised the hope of many Nigerians.

I just laugh at our govt that thinks we are stupid with the nonsense they are spewing including Aminu himself.

Travelex said they can be selling $45m per week to bdc.

We have 36 state
45m$ divided by 36 = 388888$
38888$ divided by each local govt in each state.
If 388888$ is entering lagos alone in a week, it's not enough for my igbo brothers in alaba talkless of auto parts.

I am yet to know where travelex will even be getting the dollars or let my assume CBN will be selling dollars to them. Where will they change the naira they are receiving?

Cbn knows what they are doing. Sanusi told us he can seat at home and make millions with the dollar rate, how? These thieves use manufacturing companies who have access to forex to buy dollars from CBN and sell to bdcs.

CBN and our govt are all theives, they will never close the long gap between cbn rate and parallel rate.

Travelex gets the dollar it sells directly from the CBN, due to Travelex's position in International forex exchange, the CBN went into partnership with Travelex to be the sole distributor of Forex to licensed BDC businesses in Nigeria.

Travelex applied its expertise by utilizing a Biometric Technology system in capturing and disbursing Forex to Nigerian BDC's.

Apart from the CBN's supply to Travelex, the licensed BDC's under Travelex can access other forex channels with good behavior.

This is a step in the right direction, the Government will not cater for the needs of greedy Nigerians so if you have a shop at Alaba and require $40m a week its your problem.

The truth be told, if you pump $500 billion into the Nigerian economy, within a year it will finish so why pump all the $22 billion reserve within a year when we know it will still finish.

Nigerians need to team up and start investing inwards, an average business man at Alaba can import 5 containers of 40 feet China products in a month but he can't build a small factory and train people to manufacture those products.

God bless you for these questions . This is why I said Nigerians must learn to ask their leaders sensible questions and not just swallow everything. Where will the dollars be coming from and how will Travelex repatriate their profits? What happens to the over 5 billion naira airlines money waiting to be taken out? Will this travelex exchange be enough for our industries ?
This govt just keep fooling themselves thinking they are fooling nigerins

Exactly what I'm trying to understand from this newspaper because just by the name of the companies they look so illegal. I had to take the picture to go & do a check on some of this illegal companies used as front to get USD but the flight attendant no gree me take am well but none of this unknown companies got less than 100,000$ & I was wondering who are their owners but just a simple google search majority only had SON cap reg which makes it all suspicious cox for a company to get $100,000 and above no be only SON go get your record
