Lagos Assembly Reveals How Presidency Is Showing Disrespect For Tinubu by AnotherZik(op): 1:23pm On Oct 12, 2016
SAN FRANCISCO, October 12, (THEWILL) – The Lagos State House of Assembly has disclosed that the presidency is showing disrespect for a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, by making appointments without the latter’s knowledge and taking major decisions without adequate consideration for the view and opinion of the former Lagos governor.

Making this assertion during its plenary on Tuesday, the state assembly asserted that the contributions of Tinubu to the emergence of the APC can never be shoved aside, adding that nobody can whittle down his influence and political power.

Drumming up support for the APC leader in the wake of the recent rift between him and APC’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Tunde Braimoh, and his colleagues questioned the “silence” of the presidency over the development, especially given the “years of sacrifice and financial commitments” Tinubu gave to the emergence of APC.

Tinubu had asked Oyegun to resign as National Chairman, alleging that he worked with anti-democratic forces within the party to scuttle the will of party members in the party’s governorship primary in Ondo State. Oyegun responded by describing the content of Tinubu’s widely publicized statement as “reckless and false”.

The state lawmakers noted that an insult to the personality of Tinubu was synonymous to insulting the entire Yoruba race, particularly in view of the leadership role he (Tinubu) has played in the unification of the Yoruba nation.

According to Braimoh, “The situation does not speak well for the internal democracy of our party and efforts must be made by stakeholders to arrive at a quick resolution.

“To achieve this, we call on the party’s leadership to call the executives to order with a view to ensuring that adequate respect and honour is given to party leaders, including Asiwaju Tinubu.”

In his contribution, the Deputy Majority Leader, Muyiwa Jimoh noted that the “ongoing fight is not just against Tinubu, but against vision and posterity”, stressing that “Asiwaju Tinubu is too big a personality for anybody to toy with”.

On his part, the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa stated that President Muhammadu Buhari should play the role of a father and unite everybody rather than be seen as apathetic to the development.

“The signal coming from the presidency is not good enough. Appointments have been made without Tinubu’s knowledge and major decisions have been made without adequate consideration given for his view and opinion. We believe this is not good enough and it is a sign of disrespect for a personality like Tinubu, whose contributions to the consummation of APC in Nigeria can never be brushed aside,” he said.

THEWILL had reported a former Aviation minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, as enumerating six shots that have been fired at Tinubu by “forces within his party that are even greater than him”.

In that report, Fani-Kayode identified this “small cabal of power-brokers” carrying out offensive against the former Lagos governor to include: President Muhammadu Buhari, his powerful nephew: Mamman Daura and Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, adding that the Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El Rufai and others are the strategists and enforcers.

He bemoaned the humiliation of Tinubu by those whose objective “is to establish a new political order in the south west which is beholden to them alone, to replace Tinubu as the National Leader of the party and to utterly demystify and crush him in order to prepare the ground for the emergence of a new and more compliant Yoruba running mate for either Buhari himself or El Rufai in 2019.”

Is Tinubu a GOD?
Must he knw everything?
Is there any provision for a national leader in APC's constitution?

The Assembly doesn't need to trouble themselves into this matter.

It is not a Lagos matter,
It is Tinubu personal problem

That is why I like Yorubas. Very politically aware set of pupil. However, we also know of other tribes in Nigeria that are less politically aware and only know violence as a means. Violence is not a very good means in politics. Now that Tinubu has made a statement, watch Buhari behave because he knows 2019 is around the corner. wink

Rubbish.

This is shameful if the expectation is for PMB to consult with Tinubu before making appointments. I am sure Tinubu himself wouldn't take such from anyone if he were the president.

They are not even ashamed of admitting tinubu is their god-father and lord.
YES, we know he is, but atleast have respect for your citizens who voted for you instead of showing them openly that you all are serving at tinubu's pleasure.
Every region has god-fathers but only the SW displays theirs in full glare and without shame, no wonder oyegun is furious.

You think bubu is done with tinubu? Wait for the next phase which will be acted with DSS and EFCC.

Ask why tinubu has gone silent all these while?

In democracy the party bloc is the voice of the people, it is tribal! The life of the voice is sustained through the management and evolution of the party.

The ruling government in a democracy is a surrogate of the party platform that got it elected. The government and its offices is therefore an outlet for the voice of the party, and by extension the people, to be heard.

Buhari was put in government by APC....he didn't get there on his own. His government must balance on one hand, the statutory call for independence, and on the other the evolutionary and continuity of the party....

He risks bringing his party APC to end of life prematurely if he neglects to understand the intrigues of partisan politics.

What is APC without TINUBU?

All the resources needed by APC to sustain and evolve is congregated in Tinubu.

Buhari has the decision but it is a good discretion of a leader to identify and acknowledge resource and minimize risks, otherwise he would keep making bad business judgement over and over. We already see evidence of bad business judgements from this government. They are distancing from resourceful input and acquiring risks.

Tinubu has proven time after time that he is transformative and sustainable, whether in majority or minority. He can displace and dislodge APC from ruling faster than any other person in Nigeria can.

Aso Rock should take note! Arewa Elders should take note!

Yoruba stand firmly behind TINUBU!

No, he cannot. That would mean tinubu has control over votes in other parts of the south and the middle-belt which he doesn't.
You are delusional. Nobody trusts your people, not even Buhari

Isn't it true that Tinubu just displaced and dislodged the almighty PDP?

What were you looking in other parts of South to allow that to happen?

When has Yoruba ever campaigned for trust?

Tinubu did not displace anything. The north did.
He merely latched onto the opportunity.
Now that the north does not want to displace APC, how does he intend to override them?. With how many Yoruba votes?
