For 32 days, each man put in 8 days of work.
So, in d case of 3 men, d 8days work will be added to them.

to me it is wrong oo
4 men did a piece of work for 32
therefore 3 men would use more than 32 days, not less than 32 days

now using inverse proportion
4 men did a piece for work for 32days
therefore 1 man would do that piece of work for 4* 32 = 128
then 3 men would do the work for 128/3 = 42.6666 that is approximately 43 days i 2s.f thats all

3men would use 43 days
4 men would use 32 days
8 men would use 16 days

3 men ----------------> ?

more/less * 32 days

4/3 * 32 = 4 * 32 / 3 = 128/3 = 42.67 days. QED

NB: more/less principle. If 4 people use a certain no of days, it means that 3 people will use more days.

Thus, 4men multiply by 32hrs= x multiply by 3men.
Therefore: 128=3x,
X=42.67=42hrs,40minutes.
