Op, I hope after clearing the vegetation you will employ the services of a soil scientist also do a soil test.
The soil am looking at is a 2:1,meaning it shifts and expand and contrast as water touches it.

In sane road construction, the soil would be packed away to a particular depth and refilled with something more stable before gravel and bitumen is applied.

The best for the race track would have been big concrete slabs arranged in an interlocking pattern, it would remove need for constructing a gutter, doesn't get spoilt easily, easy to replace any that gets damaged.

We will be doing Dirt track racing with BMW e30s till we sure of what car racing is all about and we can trust a few to be able handle the significantly faster speeds on asphalt. Dirt is also a lot more fun and many more people can enjoy "Motorsport 101" on dirt. Asphalt is a whole different level. We will get there soon when we upgrade the track but not just now.

Dat said,by the time the heavy rains come and wash away the top soil,shebi u guys will retire ur BMW for the time being and leave those of us with 4×4 to do offroading on the track
