Jury system can only thrive in advanced societies. Just as Western democracy has failed to work with us, so will the jury system.

Jury system cannot work in a country where someone like Buhari can be elected president

Apparently, you don't know the reason why more developed democracy have the jury system was to prevent the kind of monumental corruption being perpetuated in Nigeria by a single set of cabal professionals called lawyers on bench and in the bar while the rest of the citizens who hold a greater stake in democracy look on like fools.
Most of you don't know the extent the lawyers have hijacked a whole arm of democratic government because of your ignorance and docility.
Since much of it escaped your attention,I will call your attention to the debate over the corrupt judges in the Nigerian Senate, all the senators(Akpabio et Al) who asked the Senate to condemn DSS were lawyers angry
It's time for the citizens to play major role in the Judiciary arm of government through the jury system

I don't agree totally, I know the members of the jury are selected randomly from common citizens, do you also know that their stand on a case can also be formed based on their personal views and political alliance?,bringing it down to naija, if people were to be chosen randomly to precide over let's say a case of marital dispute, maybe the husband and wife are from different tribes, I can assure you that first the jury will be divided along tribal lines, then religious lines, then comes in the feminist, then based on their political affiliation,an example is Nairaland, issues that ordinarily everyone should condemn, people become so biased based on their political affiliation that they find one way or the other to defend
cc; lalasticlala, we need a bigger audience on this issue

Even though the Judiciary has issues with corruption, I think it is better to have just one thief in a community than having multiple. It solves nothing and merely complicates the problem. Honestly, I don't even see how giving a group of untrained and sentimental people the right to decide disputes helps the Judiciary.

it certainly has worked in developed countries, and has helped their judiciary, you probably won't see the need here in Nigeria because even the ordinary Nigerian is biased and easily swayed by tribal and religious sentiments, e.g Nairalanders

One thing you forgot to mention is that judges and law enforcement commissioners (and even ministers) at the local and state level are voted in by the people (not appointed by the governor) every four years or so and they can be recalled (removed) by the electoral process also.
