Abt a year ago, I wanted a Boerboel puppy and contacted a 'dog- seller' on Jiji.com. 'She' sent me a lot of pictures but I suspected the background was not Nigerian. 'She' promised to help me for 40k cos I just lost my dog. Then she made me suspicious by promising to add a puppy cage and the next vaccine I would need. She also spoke about bringing the puppy to Ibadan(through her driver) all at no cost... during the fuel scarcity period!

I then reasoned that with all the packages she was offering, her gain wouldn't be more than 15k! Whatta generous breeder she was!
She then made a request that I pay half of the money into her "driver's" account so she would know that I was for real. That got me thinking...

I told her it was risky and she began to preach on how she would never scam me and how reliable she was. In short, she agreed that I pay 10k. I noticed that in all our conversation, she never asked for my exact location in Ibadan... all she needed was the money. But since I was bored, I decided to play along...

I knew she was most likely a scammer cos her offer seemed too good to be true but a part of me still believed her... Her demand was too risky so i decided to pull the plug on the deal but not before I called the number as we had been chatting on WhatsApp all these while.
Calling the number removed all doubts that she wasn't a scammer in 2 ways;
Firstly, my TrueCaller app gave me another name for her number (3 different names now)
Secondly, It was a guy using 'Female magic voice'! He tried to mask it but I was smarter... lmao

And that was how I finally broke off contact. As early as 12am on Monday, I got a msg to send the money very early cos the driver will be making so many rounds.

The nxt day, wen I didn't send anything, the scammer accused me of disappointing them...

Anyways, that's how God saved me o! Thank God I applied some wisdom. The bad-sharp guy would av just used my money to eat pepper soup and drink beer with other sharp guys while I would be licking my wounds. Lmao

SOME GUYS ARE VERY WICKED... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

Lessons I learnt from the whole episode;
1. There's always a quality breeder in your home town. I'd advice you to buy your puppy from them. Don't do all these long-distance transactions; majority of them are scams. The difference will be less than 20k at most, which is worth it considering the risks involved...

2. If u must buy online then note these points:
- Don't trust anyone you met online and don't pay before delivery; You are not sure he'll deliver to u. And since u don't know him, he's
most likely a scammer.
-Don't rely on pictures; most of these guys will send u fake pictures all in the bid to get ur money.
- You have to promise to pay for transport even if u don't buy. ONLY PAY ON DELIVERY. If he insists on being paid part or even transport fare before bringing the dog, he's likely a scammer
- If you can't see the dog before paying or he can't bring the dog to u before paying; forget it! If he's sure of himself, he'll bring it.
- And if you don't like what u see, courtesy demands that u still give him the transport fare u promised

STICK TO THESE POINTS NO MATTER HOW SWEET THE SELLER'S MOUTH IS. A SCAMMER'S MOUTH IS ALWAYS SWEETER THAN HONEY. IF HE CAN'T TRUST YOU ENOUGH TO BRING IT TO YOU IN A NEUTRAL LOCATION, HE'S NOT REAL.

Lol I can't stop laughing. How can you even deliver something to your client free of charge all the way from Ibadan to Lagos? Imagine the free cage, book vaccines etc for 50k along with the dog. Only greedy people will fall for this. His last message is really hilarious.

The scammer was NEVER a woman; but a guy. He only used a woman's profile to make it look more convincing. When I called the number, It was a male pretending to be female by using female magic voice or the android voice changing app. You know what I mean?
