It took the timely intervention of the transition chairman of Ehime Mbano LGA, Hon Chike Orjiako, for these alleged thieves to escape the fury of an angry mob at Alaojii Aba branch of the LGA in Imo state -after efforts by police proved abortive.

According to reports by a witness, the alleged machine thieves were chased by commercial motorcyclists from Oriagu market and nature caught up with them at Aba branch. The thieves were brutally beaten to coma and about to be set ablaze when the police arrived. The mob threatened to attack and burn their vehicle. However, when their efforts were aborted by the brazenly angry mob, the police withdrew.

When the information got to the T.C chairman of Ehime Mbano, he forthwith moved to the venue. It was only by God's grace that he was able to talk to the war-ready youths and they stayed action. When he needed support to evacuate the victims out of the location before the youth changed their mind, the police were no where to be found because they didn't want to risk going there again.

However, the prompt call put across to the commissioner of police by Hon Chike was the only thing that brought the police back.

Meanwhile, the victims were assumed dead until revived by a doctor, they are presently recuperating pending when the wrath of the law will be unleashed on them.

Will lynch average joe for stealing a cup of rice then cheer for someone that steals billions

I don't support any form of "thiefry" but what bothers me is the double standard in the society.... Lynch a cup of rice thief and hail the billion dollars thief.

If this was Amaechi or Obanikoro or Patience Jonathan.... People will be shouting witch hunting witch hunting..... Why not follow due process ... Why not go and arrest this person.... Yada yada but the same people are quick to condemn a petty thief..
