Just30:No it isn't true. That is foreign exchange income. Nigeria's annual GDP is $529 billion, with oil industry receipts accounting for just 14% of that figure. Additionally, ''govt income'' is not the determinant of how well a country is doing. National income is, ie the money accruing to the generality of the population. For that, Nigeria's income per capita is just over $3,000 or approximately $7,000 at PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) Ten years ago it was $300! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_Nigeria |

Rossikk:That was in anticipation of what might happen next year if certain things are not done. It's no news, power supply has been stable for the last six months . Can we say same for Nigeria? |

Joonana:I guess Nigerians don't know what democracy means, especially when it's an election year. You hit the government, where it would hurt the most |

Just30:Keep deceiving yourself. Wednesday, 26 October 2016 ''Intermittent power cuts in various parts of [Accra] have caused agitation, with several consumers venting their frustrations at the power distribution company and accusing it of introducing by stealth the long hours of power outage (dumsor), which was a common occurrence when the country endured a four-year power crisis.'' http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/We-re-not-shedding-load-ECG-480957 |

Rossikk:you are simply too dull to grasp what I just said, 80% of your government revenue comes from oil, companies, individual businesses and taxes accruing from other sources only account for 20% of government revenue. Now how diversified is your economy? No you see why your government is suffering to raise enough money to pay government workers, and carry out developmental works? |

thedarkside:The worst enemy of Nigeria are people like you. As I am, I have different ideology apart from one Nigeria. But from your opinion I know you're a proponent of one Nigeria but you don't see anything wrong with Nigeria both economically and scientifically. You refute the fact that Nigeria is a mono economic country that import everything including their Gods given crude oil as refined product. You're the worst enemy of your country. The kind of mentality you exhibits is similar to what what your president exhibits after vieing for presidency for 12yrs and nearly absconded after wining election because of low oil price. Within that 12yrs he was contesting to be president, he knew that his country depends solely on oil for economic growth but never bother to have an alternative economic road map besides oil. As powerful and rich as US is, Obama was thinking of ways and alternative economic policies that will make his country more indpendent than they were when he was about to contest to be president. Go read his Audacity of Hope, written before he became president. He was already with a master plan when he became president. Hence in his tenure US witnessed a scientific breakthrough both in medicine, engineering and fracturing technology that made US to start producing their shale oil. There was massive grants for research and technology. I repeat you're the worst enemy of Nigeria if you feel that a mono economy like Nigeria is doing well! |

Rossikk:get over your ego boy, the ECG was fast to explained to those affected that it was a maintainance work that took out their power supply . As at this morning, our peak demand was 300 megawatts lesser than available supply |
| Re: Ghana or Nigeria? see a Ghanaian's reaction by Rossikk(m): 11:04pm On Nov 05, 2016 |
Just30:You really should worry about your own country, Ghana. Don't you have enough problems sourcing money to pay your debts for Nigerian gas etc? As for Nigeria, oil is only a small part of the economy. ''The petroleum industry in Nigeria is the largest on the African continent. As of 2014, Nigeria's petroleum industry contributes about 14% to its economy. Therefore, though the petroleum sector is important, it remains in fact a small part of the country's overall diversified economy.'' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum_industry_in_Nigeria |

Rossikk:You're a big fool by comparing US car importation to Nigeria that imports 99% of their cars. 95% of cars in US are made in US. Dunce! |
| Re: Ghana or Nigeria? see a Ghanaian's reaction by Rossikk(m): 11:08pm On Nov 05, 2016 |
TruthisGOD:Did you mention percentages when you asked ''Nigeria manufactures cars but imports cars''? A dumb statement, considering that is the NORM in ALL countries that produce vehicles, ie some are imported, some are manufactured locally. Just admit you're a dullard and move on. |

Rossikk:Fools like you are enemies of Nigeria that feels that Nigeria a mono economy country is doing well. The reason US is importing small percentage of Japanse car is because of fuel effecient and there is breakthrough now with respect to that technology. And you're a bigger fool by comparing 99% importation to 5% importation. Yeye |

| Re: Ghana or Nigeria? see a Ghanaian's reaction by Rossikk(m): 11:22pm On Nov 05, 2016 |
Just30:Do you actually understand how economies operate? The only other way the govt could increase its revenues is by increasing taxes on people and firms, and they are not about to do that. The natural gas sector is still under development, which could lead to increased govt revenue. But generally, the private sector takes care of production in general, and export receipts go into the coffers of private sector operators, not government. You also overestimate the importance of govt revenue as opposed to national income, which GDP represents. |

Rossikk:why don't you do yourself some favour, by finding them yourself to see how well your country is doing. I'm not here to educate you on your own country. I taught you were interested and much more invested in your own country social discussion. You are as gullible and lazy as many Nigerians who would hardly find time to read . You guys make it seems true that if you want to hide anything from an African, hide it in w book. After all, you make it seems like I live in a parallel world |

Rossikk:you definitely under recognize the importance of government revenue. Why is your government thinking of borrowing 30 billion dollars to come and pay government workers who have not been paid for 7 months as well as use some to invest in social infrastructure? Do you know why your currency is even suffering? Government can increase it revenue by making sure that the remaining 80 something percent contributor to GDP pay taxes |
