Good evening mamas.
Please I need input from mamas who have hired/paid help...or who knows people that do.
I have the following questions to help me make a decision on what to do.

1...What's the age range of the nanny
2..what is the pay range
3..Are they live in or non live in.
3a. If none live in, what is their work time?
3b. If live in, how many days off do they get in a Month?
4. Is their duty strictly taking care of your LO or do they do housechores too.

1. I don't know exactly but from her face, she should be
in her 30s
2. I don't know...its depends on the individual, mine earns 18k. I give her breakfast and lunch too. And give her foodstuff from time to time, shes married (or cohabiting with a man sha) no children yet. Some people pay as much as 25k, 35k.
3. She comes and goes, comes around 6.40am (cos she has to get my DD ready for school) and leaves at 6pm on weekdays, Saturdays 9am-4pm.
4. She does anything I want her to do. I take care of my baby myself and major cooking. Mostly, she cleans, does the laundry, attends to DD, she does simple cooking like boil rice, yam, spaghetti etc. On thursday, I asked her to cook stew for the first time and it came out nice.

Big authors come there. We once had JP Clark and Woke Soyinka to address the children at Lagos Book Fair. This year, Ake Arts and Book Festival is bringing in other big guys.

You can as well squeeze or boil to drink. But I will prefer boiling to squeezing sha cos of bacteria. When you r cooking it as soup, don't hesitate to add orisirisi (assorted) inside, the whole family can take it as well, especially your DH will appreciate it cos it fights pile, and you will be at the receiving end when DH is pile-free!!!!

AlphaHandMaiden:

Just keep the eye (s) clean.

Wipe with moistened cotton wool/ pads.

Dip cotton wool in some warm water and wipe one eye per cotton wool.
Wipe from inner to outer, once and discard the cotton wool after each wipe.

If it is a big piece of cotton wool you can fold once and wipe the same eye from inner to outer then discard.
Wash your hands before and after wiping the eyes and regularlly

Also try to stop him scratching or rubbing his eyes..... now that is the hard part. Also try to wipe his hands as often as you can to keep it clean.

If he has recently had a cold, it could also be a factor as the cold virus can actually cause conjuctivitis if it gets into the eyes.

He may also have a temperature so have some infant paracetamol on hand and use only if required.
It should clear after a few days.

If you dont see any improvement after about 3 or so says please go See your doctor.
Oh thanks. it's quite helpful

Hello mum,

I have been a silent follower for a while. Shout out to all the mums and babies in the house.

I am in a dilemma. My current nanny is leaving mid December and not coming back. She is 23 and her dad wants her to come get married. Even after all the counselling it feel on deaf ears. My baby will be 14 months by dec. My job is actually hectic and my closing time is not predictable ( believe me i am seriously searching for another, at this rate sef, i do not mind a pay cut).

So am torn on the next course of action. There is a creche in my estate, do i enroll her come January? or still have her stay at home?

Either ways i will still have to get a new nanny, and am scared about that, cos i will be away for the better part of the day.

Also, if i enroll her in the school, i will still need a nanny to get her ready for school, drop her off and pick her up in the afternoon.

With my old nanny, my sister was around to ease her into how we do thgs and also watch over her. But my sister has been called for NYSC and she could get posted to any state.

I am just confused.

I will also appreciate contacts for nanny agencies.

Thank you, apologies for the gbagauns, typing this in a meeting.

Please mamas you all have to help oo.lol. for the sake of that cutie. See pic

@dtush, your daughter is so pretty, for me it's better you take her to a creche and also take a Nanny, arrange with the creche your nanny can pick her like an hour before you close, she should spend more time in the creche, then you call regularly to check on them.

Awww, see this cute princess looking for a nanny, pls I want to be her nanny grin

How did you get your recent nanny?
You can go through trusted agency but there is usually commission. Which state are you in?
I guess your nanny was good, another option is to ask her if she can get anyone trusted and capable that's if she knows anyone.
I hope you will get someone soon .
And I will advise you get someone now so the old nanny will put her through and watch her, she can give you better feedback about the new person if she's sincere.

Dtush, find out if the creche will potty-train her. You ought to start that by now. You have to get a new nanny eventually but December is usually a bad time because they all leave. Can you hold out till January? Is there any stay at home mama on this thread around your area that you can trust to keep your LO with, just for like 2 weeks till you get a new nanny? She can be taking your LO to creche and keep her till you come home. It sounds crazy but sometimes you have to trust people.

@ozycy, awww. thanks dear. I got her through an agent. I have placed a call through, but was informed they have none for now and all their nannies are taking a Christmas break. I stay in Lagos (Gbagada and work on the island), so a live in is my best bet. I would love to get one now, where to get is the palava. as regards my old nanny, she just genuinely liked my baby dats y i would have been more comfortable with her

Oya oya please download us the gist sharp sharp.
Ozycy grin
The story too plenty and some I'm even reluctant to share online...and we have only been together 1month.
She was sourced by my DH through our former house cleaner baba (they claim they are family friends but they have same surname....so I'm guessing she's his daughter)

1...What's the age range of the nanny......she's 27 (lied to my DH she was 25 but saw her real age when I asked to see her ID)
2..what is the pay range.....Her 2 previous employers were expatriates and she was paid 40k. So that's what we pay her
3..Are they live in or non live in....started off as non live in but she always showed up hours late with excuses so we had to make her live in
3a. If none live in, what is their work time?
3b. If live in, how many days off do they get in a Month?....We are still debating this one. Cos there are modalities involved.I work in a different state than I live, so when I'm at work even if she gets a day off she might not have anywhere to go to as she probably doesn't have family there. And when I'm not at work, twice a month. So she would get to go home 2 weekends in 3months.
4. Is their duty strictly taking care of your LO or do they do housechores too.....When I'm at work, she would only take care of my baby cos my work accommodation has a housekeeper. But at home she would do both.

I should have asked, what are your deal breakers and things you have to manage?

I'm having to manage really low IQ and insubordination.
We have just concluded that her sleep habits (She sleeps like a log...sleeps comfortably standing upright in the kitchen) and lies are a deal breaker...if she doesn't change.
My dh says my expectations are too high for a nanny and I should mange what I have. He says nobody with an average IQ would settle for being a nanny.

Abeg am I being too unrealistic? Is it not possible to get someone with a fairly average IQ that wouldn't turn me to a parrot?

Thanks coldfeet, I'd have to buy her a cream cos she bleaches.

Have you taken her to see a doctor? You should have seen one around the time it first appeared before spreading this much(it usually starts small) An appropriate antibiotic will clear it in days please see your doctor.
