PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Walter Onnoghen as the new acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.








The swearing in ceremony was conducted, Thursday, at the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


Mr. Onnoghen replaces Mahmud Mohammed whose tenure ended at midnight on Wednesday.

Those unrepentant sadists who thought his name would be substituted for a Muslim Northerner would be disappointed. I'm very certain he would be confirmed and eventually made the substantive CJN of the Federation. I believe there's a reason he was sworn-in in acting capacity.

Because confirming him without NASS screening will be illegal I think. But to avoid any gap after the current CJN step down.Someone will act until after NASS confirmation. Hence the acting. Its the same situation with the EFCC boss. He started as acting until his confirmation.
