Grain Shortage Looms As Exporters Move Surplus Harvest Abroad

The Presidency has warned that Nigeria, which is Africa's largest producer of cereals and grains risks famine from early next year following a huge demand in the global market that is targeting the country's surplus production.

Giving the grim forecast in a radio interview in Kano on Monday, a spokesman of the President, Mallam Garba Shehu told Pyramid Radio that the "huge demand for our grains in the global market is creating an excellent environment for the mindless export of Nigerian food across our borders and unless this is curtailed, Nigerian markets will be bereft of grains by January next year."

There are two categories of wise Nigerians.



1. Those who decide to buy food stuffs in bulk for storage purposes knowing that prices of goods will continue to increase (with scarcity).


2. Those who have decided to make their money yield sufficient interests, rather than saving with corporate robbers who barely give N1 on a N1m saving.


Nigerians in Category 2 will end up spending their interests on rising cost of food.

Nigerians in Category 1 need not worry on the rising cost of goods or envy those in category 2, as they've saved and stored enough food.

It is a win-win for both.

Here is an example;

The cost of a bottle of groundnut oil increased from N250 to N550 within a period of 4 months.

If you have N550 in a bank today, go there and withdraw, buy the bottle of oil for storage purposes.

Alternatively, withdraw your N550 from your corporate robbers, and invest at 20%-30%. When your investment matures, take the yields (N770) and buy the bottle of oil at the new price.

The N550 oil today will not remain at N550 forever. There is no hope anywhere, it will not get better anytime soon.

The report clearly states that the anticipated famine will be as a result of huge demand in global market that is targetting our surplus production.

To think that somebody sat down and decided to owe fertilizer debt of N60 billion but was able to wire N106 billion to Rivers state where his party was taking over, is saddening.

With the reported famine in the north-east we can see that the government failed woefully in preventing it despite clear signs. After buhari will seek re-election and win again based on bigotry
