In the book; Masterplan to Wealth by Napoleaon Hill, Andrew Carnegie identified the use of the master mind principle as a means to achieve anything of proportions above mediocrity. He goes to define the mastermind as an alliance of two or more mind working together in the spirit of perfect harmony for the attainment of a definite purpose.

We all have one idea or two at a point in our life, we dream of turning it into something big but our ideas never move beyond the early stage due to poor marketing, early product launch, lack of capital etc. In the book the Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladswell, identified the law of the few as one of the rules of the tipping point. He clearly stated that the connectors, mavens and salesman were responsible for making an idea cross a threshold, tip and spread like wildfire.

As entrepreneur we sometimes feel we can go all alone but sometimes we do require a salesman to help our ideas become a success. There are countless of partnerships in history that has resulted to outright success, but we have identified five of these partnerships that have somehow gone to change the world.

Fred Osius and Fred Warring

This great partnership revolutionalized the kitchen. Long before now pureeing of vegetables wasn’t as fun as it is. One man named Fred Osius improved on an earlier blender made by Stephen Poplawski. His new designs suffered setback and he needed money to improve on his initial designs. Fred Osius approached orchestra leader Fred Warring for backing, but Fred provided more than backing to Fred Osius. His fame as an orchestra leader was enough marketing force to thrust the warring blender early into the market. By 1854, they had sold the millionth blender becoming an indispensable device to process food and drinks.

The emergence of the Redbull as the single most dominant energy drink in the world was a result of the marriage of two different worlds. Chaleo Yoovidya , a Thailand national, who invented the Redbull as a low priced energy formula for working class Thailand and Dietrich who saw Redbull as a global energy drink . This marriage came about when Dietrich Mateschitz discovered the energy drink as a cure for his hangover while on holiday in Thailand. Being the entrepreneur he saw an opportunity, he approached the drink’s founder and offered them 49% stake in the company, if the founder allowed him to expand internationally. The Redbull had become a homegrown champion and Dietrich promise of global expansion was too irresistible to turn down. Redbull opened up for business in 1987 and has since grown to become one of the top beverages in the world.
