We all know how tough 2016 has been, but it’s been a great year. Here are top 5 ways you can save money as a bachelor.

1. Eat at home: You save a whole lot of money when you eat at home. Food is the one thing you have to spend money on every day. Your body needs food to survive. Due to the high rise of food stuff, restaurants and canteen owners have increased the prices of the food they sell, thereby depleting your disposable income. So as a bachelor, if you cannot cook, learn or get a rich girlfriend.

2. Have 1 Girlfriend. No side chicks: This might sound funny, but having one girlfriend saves you a whole lot of money. Someone once said it is very expensive to have numerous girlfriends. Take a second to think about it. When a new movie comes out, you will have to take them one after the other. Imagine how much you will have to spend! Channel all that energy, time and money to one babe who is very ‘understanding’ and save money.

3. Drive without your A/C: Ever since the price of petrol increased, it took a large chunk out of people’s disposable income. One of the major ways of saving your fuel is to drive most times without A/C or when approaching your destination, sharply put it on to cool down. There’s no point in forming ‘big boy’ or ‘big girl’ while you spend the money meant for more important things on fuel. Driving a car with the A/C consumes more fuel and we all know this regardless of the brand of the car you drive. Enjoy the fresh air that God has given us.

4. Avoid frivolous spending and ‘Crayfish Waka’: We all have that one friend that invites us to places we shouldn’t even be thereby, allowing us to spend money that we didn’t budget. First, you will have to buy fuel to go for this ‘crayfish waka’ at N145/litre. Well some people can afford it while some can’t. In periods of economic recession, you need to understand that you cannot afford to spend anyhow. You have to do away with things that can reduce your disposable income like spending on parties and buying expensive things you don’t really need – all in a bid to please the people around you.

5. Trim your cell phone costs: If you calculate the total amount spent on recharging your mobile phone in a month, you will be quite amazed. Not just on data but on calls too. Recently, some of the telecommunication companies in Nigeria have started giving out bonuses for recharging thereby tricking you to call and load more in order to get these bonuses. Save money by calling relevant people. Send a text or use your data for your daily activities i.e BBM, WhatsApp. You can also use the WhatsApp app to call (audio and video) and instant message rather than using your airtime.
