Wike the Governor of Rivers state just celebrated this issue last year by naming port Harcout township Stadium as Yakubu Gowon Station.

You seem to mistake the beginning with the ending. If USA has stated as melting pot of cultures as it is seen without a dominate culture, I bet my cent there would have been on USA. Maine was even colonized by Sweden but when the PM visited in 1822, the Swedish language has been replaced with English. The Yanks were on a mention of building a great nation and no culture or tradition other then English will stand in their way. Majority of Americans did not descend from Britain stop spreading falsehood, What will you say about the Germans and the French.

Remember, as at the time America gained independence, they were just 13 rebellious States, now they are 50, so the remaining 37 were not under Britain at all, but instead came from former French prooerty (Louisiana) Mexico (Texas, California AZ and NM) and even Russia (Alaska) so your point is not valid in America's case.
