Virgins are cool... Premarital Sex is not encouraged.

But why are guys not encouraged to shun premarital sex?

And what d point of a girl keeping her self and ending up married to a guy who have been flirting around.

Virgins should get married to Virgins.

Its a traditional ceremony at ogu/bolo plus other parts of Nigeria too. It signifies maturity into womanhood and let's the community know when a girl is ripe for marriage. Very few partake in it these days.
My wife is from there and did hers long ago.
Most traditional ceremonies in our country is dying because of yeye statements I read above.

Not all traditional ceremonies are BAD!

They're dying out because they are archaic and useless practices.

Let them screen the entire the community for HIV/AIDS and other STDs instead of this nonsense.

Continuation of traditional ceremonies doesn't mean that they dont encourage or create avenues to enlighten, prevent or treat health issues in their communities.

Like I said, not all are BAD!!!!

If they are dying it is because people see no use for them.

If they had any place in modern life then they would not die out.

Just as many languages in Nigeria will die due a lack of need, so too will many of the traditional practices. This is an inevitable fact as communications and transport links improve and people gain greater access to information.

Well, from your angle, I will certainly agree with you. You are coming from the inevitable angle of such dying off due to modernisation..... and not from yeye talk!
