I'll give you 10 reasons why Android Devices will always be more popular than iOS powered phones.




1. Variety
There are different brands of Android phones. This variety gives users a lot to choose from. Some have amazing camera quality, others are beasts with amazing specifications. In iOS you're tied down to only Apple. You can only choose from the devices they have which are obviously limited.


2. Target Market
The Android OS has devices that covers every country .Google has covered virtually every country on earth and can easily detect common habits and behavioral patterns of mobile phone users in any country making it easier for them to know the best devices and features that'll work in a specific region.As for Apple, they simply lack that ability .



3. Flexibility and Control
Android gives you the freedom to do what ever you want with your phone. You can root Android devices with the touch of a button, Change your phone's UI by installing a launcher, flashing a Custom ROM or using Xposed Modules. In iOS you hardly have any control without jailbreaking the phone. Even after jailbreaking the device, there are still limits to things you can do.



4. Connectivity
There are a variety of ways to transfer files in Android Devices. You can use Bluetooth , Xender , HotKnot, NFC and more to receive apps, music, photos and other media files. iOS on the other hand forces you to download music from iTunes and you cannot even collect music from someone via Bluetooth because some iPhones don't have Bluetooth support.


5.Budget And Cost Of Devices

Android has different phones that cut across every sector of any country's economy. There are phones for the High Class, Middle Class and Low Class. By reducing the cost of production for some devices, Android devices are able to meet the budget of almost everyone. Let's take smartphones in Nigeria as an example.

INFINIX, Tecno and Itel are owned and operated by the same company but each of these devices take care of the needs of a particular class of people. iTel devices are mostly targeted at the low income earners, while Tecno and Infinix take care of the average and high income earners.

This strategy has enabled these phones have a larger market share if devices in Nigeria. This is the same method all Android OEMs are using all over the world to cover every part of any country they're targeting. However , Apple devices are stuck to the price that Apple has set. iPhones are targeted at high income earners.


6. Availability Of Repair Centres
Nobody wants to use a phone that can't be fixed when it has a fault. Many Android devices can be fixed by third-party repair centers or personnel quite easily as their parts are readily available. The cost of repair is also relatively affordable. Unlike in iOS, The cost of repairing an Apple product is always high and the parts are always scarce.

Ihe only reason I see that make people go back to android is MONEY.

I for one met android before I met iphone but when I met iphone it was like a divine love story. Though am back to using android albeit temporarily due to finance because my iPhone was stolen. In spite of this I still own an iPad. Still everytime I hold my android phone, I can but feel as if there's something missing.

Let me state some reasons I personally prefer an iPhone to android anyday.

The big reason people with the budget go for iPhone and stick with it is because of all media buzz iPhone generates and also the reputation of being "classy". When Apple starts making cheaper phones people will drift to iPhone initially to get the experience. But after awhile the excitement will wear off and things will balance like 50 - 50 market share between Apple and Android.

Limited is what way? Availability? Does the iPhone run out of stock? They don't make enough iphones or what? Specification? Does the iPhone not beat every other phone in the market in performance? Camera? After pixel which is next? What you should say is the varsity on android make consumers able to chooses between different specifications and price based on their(the consumer) preference. But iPhone just comes in one variant and one price range based on colour and price. Therefore people who's preference does not fall into this (iPhone) tend to go for an android.

But when would you guys start to realize that rooting of android phones (except or stealing and hacking of apps) only solves problems that are only exclusive to android phones in the first place!!! You root your phone and flash all the custom roms in the world 'cos your phone will never get software updates from the manufacturer. And iPhone does! Or you root your phone to delete unwanted apps and bloatware, which the iPhone does not come with!! So why should I jailbreak an iPhone? Even if jailbreaking was the same as rooting...... Oh yeah I know... Download, hack and use apps developers spend their time and money on? Nah!

Personally, I believe that for most people, there's no one phone that has everything that a person would like in a phone. At the end of the day it depends on what you feel gives you the best of both worlds. If every android phone released each year was a samsung S series, or even made only by samsung, IOS would probably be at least almost as popular if not even more popular (that was the reason why samsung wave phones weren't so popular despite being as customizable - not everyone wants to be stuck to one phone vendor); but because of the variety of devices, people who have a low budget can buy a cheap android phone, those who want certain specs would buy phones with those specs. When the OP was talking about variety, that's what he meant.



I think you miss a major reason a lot of people use android. It isn't about fixing an issue, it's about getting your phone to do what you want it to do the way you want it to do - not necessarily the way the manufacturer says it should be done. I for one won't use an iphone as my main phone even if I got one for free, why? Because it would frustrate me to no end, I don't have the kind of choice I have with android. For the same reason, I won't use the windows phone. Besides software updates are overrated. I currently have a phone running cyanogenmod that can be updated that can be upgraded to the version that corresponds to android 7 but i'm not going to upgrade to it yet; why? Because there is a particular system framework that is important to me and until it supports android 7, i'll pass. Agreed with an Iphone, I can get the latest update; but I hope I can just as easily go back to the previous version (I did that when I first got marshmallow on my phone until I got another update that worked better for me)



I think the article was actually more about which is more popular , rather than which is better and why it is so. That said, I don't fully agree with everything the OP posted either

If you read my post properly, you would see that I said even if I did get an Iphone, it would never be my main phone. I didtn't say I would never use an iphone. And actually if I was to say the OS i'm a fan of, it would be Symbian, not android.

And android being open source is not an advantage to the consumer over the iphone. That's is what I mean. But the OP was clearly stating advantages of android over the iPhone. Not sure I agree with the notion that android is more popular because it's open source. Symbian was open source before it died out, meego was open source too. Linux is an open source os, yet windows is far more popular.
I would say more of Google's ability to attract vendors to make android phone (which is where galaxy wave failed ), plus ease of development for the platform (which is where Symbian failed), plus ease of user customization (which is a major reason why windows phones never quite made it).
Yes I know lack of apps was also a factor, but apps are a chicken and egg situation. The more users you have, the more likely you are to have apps. And the more apps you have, the more likely you are to have users
Of course it also helped that google wasn't actually in the smartphone business, so they weren't in competition with their vendors
