I had this ear problem some months back and its healed but I still have some fluid left in my ear. Its not painful but I hear this crackling noise when I swallow with headache and dizziness.

Its so uncomfortable and distressing.

Please I need contacts of Ear Nose Throat (ENT) specialist or a Otolaryngologist in Lagos.

I met a chemist who gave me hydrogen peroxide which I applied to scoop out the earwax. This has lasted up to 7 weeks. Now, I still hear humming noise in my ear. Pls any advice ll be appreciated.

I'll be going to look for ENT specialists in Ikeja soon. I've been to the general hospital at Ikeja and the Doctor used an ortoscope to examine my ears, he said its completely healed with no damage to my ear drums. He said I should block my ears with cotton wool when bathing.

The fluid trapped inside is giving so much discomfort so I'm making my move to see an ENT.

No fluids? Just get an Original honey, apply in a cotton wool and put into your two ears. (Even if the other ear is not affected)

@maximus...Thanks 4 ur reply. Yes no fluids at all. I think mine was coursed by the cough i have. So clearify me on how to apply the honey. Shold i let the honey spill inside my ear? How long am i going to have the cotton wool stuck inside my ear? Thanks..... I pray we ll be fine by God's grace.

Apply enough on the cotton, it'll slide inside on its own, you'd feel it. Make sure its Real honey.

There are private ENT clinics one in Ilupeju ,20 Ilaaka street off Coker street Another at 19 Yinusa Adeniji st off Muslim avenue off unity road ikeja. They are not cheap though. Unfortunately unless it's a life and death situation you will be given an appointment if you go to any general hospital.
What you describe sounds like your Eustachian tube , a tube that connects the ear to the back of the nose, is not functioning well so fluid is accumulating in the middle ear. So treatment will be geared at decongesting the nose. Nose drops like Otrivin 2 drops 3 times a day for 5 Days maximum. Nasal decongestants like procold one a night for the same 5 days and then an excercise to allow air into the middle ears and displace the fluid. Hold the nose and close the mouth and then blow your nose for like 3 seconds. You should feel the ear pop. Do this like 10 repetitions 3 x a day.. I didn't examine you so I can't prescribe more. Do this for a week and see an ENT if you still have problems.

For the guy with wax it may have to be syringes out first by an ENT specialist and your ear drum examined before the reason for the noise can be determined. Good luck to putting honey and hydrogen peroxide into the ears I am yet to see it work at clearing wax when it is plenty.

Thanks for your input, the private ENT is soo expensive, I can't afford it. I went to the general hospital ikeja and they say unless its severe they don't use the ENT. I wish U could examine me. Where's your location, I'll come look for you. The Ent specialist I saw around olowu at ikeja is demanding 10k for Reg and Consultancy.

Sorry I don't do private practice. Still get get a referral either LASUTH or LUTH any doctor can write one for you. Unfortunately ENT equipment is very expensive so unless he/she isn't buying good equipment it is unlikely you will see a cheap one, that's also why the waiting list in government hospitals is soo long.

Lasuth doctors said unless its a severe case, they are not allowed to refer to the ENT.

But since you know about this issue, you talked about nose decongestion. My left nostril has not been cleared ever since this stuff started.
Can I get the Otrivin in any pharmacy?

Maybe Ur olfactory lobe need to be assessed. See an ENT specialist. But as You can see as we've been discussing, its very expensive.

You can get a referral from any doctor not neccesary one from LASUTH, take it directly to the ENT clinic in either LASUTH , LUTH or even General hospital Lagos Island. They will give you an appointment which I know will be long but still try and see someone eventually.
And yes Otrivine is easily available from any decent pharmacy.

You really need to be examined. There is a good ENT Department at UBTH.

Hi @ allycat, av got quite a similar issue which is ringing in the ears. 'started since March last year but never took it so seriously until December same year when I noticed it persisted and seemed to be getting out of hands. Visited a private ENT specialist close to me where several drugs were administered including x-ray and nose drops. The doc said it's chronic rhynosinusitis and eustachian tube dysfunction, was also given a water solution to giggle down my throat. Despite all these, the buzzing still persists but whenever I lie down facing upwards with my neck raised high and bent on a pillow or I grab my neck with my hands all around with force putting pressure on it (i.e the neck side by my right ear as it's only the right ear that's affected) I get some relief but once released, buzzing continues. Will be glad and grateful if u can advice and or assist. I feel so uncomfortable and sad at this feeling, moreso, as it's gradually affecting my mood. Thanks..plz revert.

Just go to Abule Egba General Hospital. Go to the ENT section. Ask for Matron Ogunole. Tell her a former patient referred you. Do like say you wan die ooo, or else they'll tell you to come back in three weeks.

Good morning. I have a reoccuring sore in the throat for years. Is ENT section General hospital at Abule egba okay, i'm in Island axis though. Pls, i want to know how much it could cost for diagnosis.I'm ready to go anytime. Do i need to be reffered by a physician ?
