I want to know whether it's possible for websites/programmers to store or have access to both email address and corresponding password. For instance if you register on a website with your email address and password, is it possible for the site to store both the email address and password even if they won't disclose them to a third party? Your informed opinions are highly welcomed. |

nusta:Of course na they store passwords and email(in a databse-usually MYSQL) thats why you can login when you return to the site But usually standard websites encrypt your password so at times owners of the website sef wont be able to see your password even if they have access to the database except they decrypt the password. |

if they don't store ur password when u register, u can't have access to the site, but lyk someone up there said, its been encrypted so even the programmers can't easily tell ur password without a little manipulation. |

nusta:very good question. The answer is YEs and NO. it iis yes, because when you register o a site, your Username, password and other details are stored in the database which makes it possible for you to access them later on. The Admin of the site can have access to all the information on the database includeing yours except the password and that is because of databases allow passwords to be encrypted using SHA! and other hash cryptographics. So, the only thing they can see when they try to view your password is some gibberish with a combination of letters, numbers and symbols. It's also not possible to decode the encrypted data, the best they can do is to use one of the available encryptors out there to encript a password and then replace it with the decripted version. I hope i'm making sense. |

The answer is yes. it depends on the site developer whether he wants to encrypt the password or not. passwords are usually encrypted to make it more difficult for hackers to view it. but for malicious sites whose aim is to have access to your email he does not have to encrypt it in the first place |
