you guys should stop giving lame excuses.. if it's not first class, no any other class. first class/distinction it is. no hard feelings. |

I JARUSHUB:You are 101% correct sir. As a First Class Graduate in one of Nigeria's Foremost Unversity, my immediate boss who also doubles as my HR manager almost killed me work, if not for divine intervention as a call was put across to me from my university two months after picking up my first appointment letter immediately after my NYSC. In spite the wide gap in my take home pay, I didn't think it twice before opting out of the first firm to pick a job as a graduate assistant. I have never regretted it since then. |

kennyjam:Watch the kinda lodge u enter, cuz it has a great way of influencing you. In my case my lodge was the center of igbo smoking and craziest parties.. infact not having an extra year after graduation as a member of the lodge was considered a feat by many! |

I don't have problem with those that finished with first class but what I don't like is inability of some holders of first class to reprise the same actions that earned them first class when the need arises. I don't know about you but I look at the certificate with askance because the system is corrupt. |

kennyjam:-Your close friends will determine what you grad with....pick wisely -Every course have its secret of passing it, some can be as simple as just only solving d past questions while some courses are tot by lecturers who ALWAYS give impromptu test every year (hav friend above ur level), u should know all this things as early as possible every semester - Discover what reading method works for you as early as possible preferably b4 ur first exam - Make friend with a 200L first class material - Forget womanizing completely (cos some women carry badluck beliv it or not) - Take ur C.A's seriously, if possible more than ur exams See you at the other side bro.... |

that number 3 is very correct. I remember back in school, my mates had me as their last resort. they came to me with everything they don't understand, including the ones I don't know as well. also while I was working with one of the banks, one day we were at a meeting and my branch manager was lecturing on something that was 75% new to me, all of a sudden he turned towards my direction and called me, Mr A. I hope I am correct? I quickly and confidently gave him a nod and he proceeded. inside me I was like what did he take me for, a computer abi? Ok continue. |

| Re: 7 "Downsides" Of Being A First Class Graduate In Nigeria by CSTR13: 6:08pm On Dec 15, 2016 |
Adegreen:Yes, a first class holder is much better placed to make money and be successful in life. Don't let your world view be restricted by Nigeria. Nerds are some of the richest people in the developed world. |

Mavelshee:The highlighted statement is true. The only time i womanized in my five year stay at the university, my CGPA dropped from 4.74 to 4.44 in a single semester |
| Re: 7 "Downsides" Of Being A First Class Graduate In Nigeria by JackBizzle: 6:11pm On Dec 15, 2016 |
CSTR13:And you have a yellow-fevered view of facts. A first class is meaningless in many situations. A first class will not help you in many jobs. Jobs that involve working with clients and making negotiations favour people who have been around people for a long time- the people in schools who chill with friends, sell stuff in schools, organize parties etc......How many first class people do you know that were like that in school? |
| Re: 7 "Downsides" Of Being A First Class Graduate In Nigeria by Kdamilola(m): 6:16pm On Dec 15, 2016 |
JackBizzle:Yes, you can call first classers la cram la pour! But believe me, although I know u won't, it's not all of them! Some first class students take time to understand the concept of the course and sometimes find it difficult to work in group as you pointed out... coz they love seclusion! The guy u illustrated with analysis operations will be able to carry out some other things related to his field effectively! Juz try to at least for once look at the positive side! |

| Re: 7 "Downsides" Of Being A First Class Graduate In Nigeria by CSTR13: 6:20pm On Dec 15, 2016 |
JackBizzle:A 2-1 or 2-2 will not help you know how to work with clients too. It has to do with how well rounded the individual is. Making it sound like it is a mutually exclusive relationship that exists between a first class degree and honing inter-personal relationship skill is just wrong. Infact, it takes high cognitive ability to be to adapt and relate with people on their own respective levels. First class holders who lack such skills have a personal character flaw. A flaw which has been found to be present in holders of other classes of degree be it 2-1 or 2-2. It is a character flaw that can be corrected. And generalizing it is just stupidd. |
