Buhari lost everything when he watched Saraki emerge as senate president without attempting to influence the proceedings. Even though APC "heads" the legislature, the president will have a rough time working with both houses until his tenure expires.

He should have buried Saraki's political career at the CCT but using the trial as a bargaining chip will eventually cost Buhari dearly. There are some tasks you have to finish utterly or be finished.

I won't be surprised if Saraki instigates a vote of no confidence on the president soon. It is overdue in fact. Just the slightest slip and impeachment proceedings would commence. The senators are very powerful and only the fear of prosecution can keep them in check. Their hands are not clean so it shouldn't be difficult to arm-twist a few key members.

He messed up big time with that lofty speech about letting the senate remain independent. He needs to learn the cunning of seasoned politicians and quit treating these vipers with kid gloves.

The next thing we would hear now is the next CCT hearing or a fresh case of forgery filed against Saraki and his sidekick. That is just boring and ineffective. These lawmakers need to dread the actual loss of their seats before they act right.
