Hi fellow Nairalanders, Kindly share your opinion about this.... Late yesterday night I logged on to my cPanel and navigated to my redirect option. Funny enough I found out that I already have a redirection of my domain which I can tell how it got there and a kind of fake directory I don't know about. Please does it mean someone else redirected my blog to another URL or what? See the image below

gidimasters:You might have to look beyond using the Remove Option as there might have been other things compromised. Backdoors might even exist. Anyway, should you need to cleanup hacked or infected website. Just contact us via my signature |

dotun4luv:Oooh Sorry for that but I already mentioned somethings to expect from a hacked or compromised web application. remember I made mention of BackDoors. There are lot's of things to expect and most times the attacker might just create a Back-Door (an alternative means of access) and do nothing else for a while. Smart hackers don't leave a trail. Your ability to detect a hacked server or web application varies depending on your knowledge. It's easier to detect a defaced website or a website whose control has been taken BUT most times, the hacker might just inject some files which won't stop your website from working and your ability to detect file Changes would highly depend on your knowledge and how sophisticated the changes were. Restoring a clean BackUp might help you if you are able to detect the changes on time But from the few recoveries we have made, some hackers would just create Back-Doors, then stay away for a while (during which you would continue taking Back-Ups unknowingly) and then return to start wrecking their havocs. Some hacked websites might run for a very long time without the owner even being aware of anything |
