Wole Soyinka enthralled me for many years with a ravish admiration. He worked hard to carve a niche for himself in the literary universe with very unique delivery style of writing that can easily be identified in the lots as, particularly, a Soyinka aesthetics.

In the mid 60s, Soyinka had his first thrust into the national fray as one over burdened with justice, brushing aside a collective sentiment to upbraid the Nigeria government for complicit indifference to and deliberate inaction to quell the pogrom in the north. This is pure humanism sentient to conscience.

Soyinka kept his pristine until Tinubu subtly recruited him for political benefits from the NADECO camaraderie. Tinubu bought Soyinka when he became governor through pet financial gestures and the guile pandering of progressive course, which continues to fit Soyinka long standing ideals. When the insidious cultivation was complete, Tinubu read the political wind and found opportunity at power, and quickly enlisted Soyinka to the intellectual front-line to help debase Jonathan.

Soyinka, a highly venerated figure, who all his life stood against oppression and injustice, fought it personas with grit and ferocity obsequiously submitted to Tinubu as a political servant. Buhari, a despot, who Soyinka had in several essays and fora delivered an unforgiving incendiary and a diatribe laded with venom, suddenly - in Soyinka's revision - become a 'born again democrat chastened by experience" and now readied for democratic leadership. Soyinka passed from serving humanity and being the voice of the oppressed to being the voice of greed for power and filthy lucre.

Tinubu destroyed Soyinka as a gift to humanity. Today, Soyinka lay in the pecuniary prison of a bought conscience. No time has evil befallen Nigeria like today with the worst abuse of power, human rights, destruction of national psyche, murder of the innocent, and the destruction of nigerian economy under the draconian, despotic rule of Buhari - and the colossal voice of Soyinka is staying mute with a metal seal.

Adhering to the Principles of Natural Justice, W.S visited Buhari to talk to him and assess things for himself. He is now working, as a Nationalist and a Patriot, to find the way out for Nigeria.

He is now a shadow of himself....the Real Soyinka that I grew to admire is long gone..........

The shear hate for GEJ blinded him and today he is mute in the face of historic Cluelessness of a president... covering his ineptitude with travelling round the globe....

The same set of people who accuse Buhari of not giving youths a chance are complaining because an old man decides to "maintain his lane"?

Igbo people should free Soyinka. It's not by force that he must always agree with your collective positions as a people at all times. He supported biafra during the civil war and even went to jail over that decision even at great risk to his own safety and security. That didn't stop igbo hatred of the man on account of his clinching of the nobel prize ahead of their own son -- what can one ever do to please you people? That he chose not to support GEJ's reelection was a decision he made of his own volition. This is just another classic attempt to take shots at the man for exercising his right to support a candidate you folks were against. You guys should learn to live and let live and accept other people's right to not see eye to eye with you on issues. Goodness gracious.
