I don't think you're fully aware of the World Cup's worth. Nigeria would gladly trade all theor gold medals from the African Nations Cup just to earn a spot in a WC final, and you are here talking about EURO cup.

Luckfavoured Ronaldo once in international football. It shouldn't warrant much cöck-a-doodledoo, especially since Messi's personal and team achievement in club football enshadows that of CR7. I can understand why CR7's shoddy EURO Cup win is exhumed for comparison's sake – it's because that's the only thing we can say he edges Messi in.

Wake up to the coffee smell on the wall: success in country football had never been the ultimate barometer in determining who the better player is.

Luck is not the acme of excellence. Every football pundit worth his/her salt knows this. I know you know this as well, but you are resolute in your refusal to rise above your CR7-ManUnited partisanship and call a spade a spade.

CR7 is older than Messi. Messi can still play in two world cups and two Copa America. Ergo, there's still that window of possibility that Messi can achieve success in country football. Case closed. Beyonce is well out of your reach () – a will-o'-the-wisp if you will. On the other hand, Messi winning WC or Copa America is not inconceivable, especially if we extrapolate from the fact that's he has managed to reach three finals in international football – two Copa America and one WC final.
