I dont see reason why some people should stand against such moves by anybody, its also an avenue to generate income to some nigerians other than the well known nigerian as ctors and to ooen a new film industrial market in a new form, any move against these is a move against human right and an act of terrorism, you terrorise your people because you want some people to benefit....is this not selfishnes? If you think there will be high demand for such movie than yours why cant you think and produce for nigerians a taste different from what you have been doing, a taste similar to what the koreans and chinese, thailand have been given.... why cant you develop your movie industry by using your brain rather than presenting to us different stories every time about how her grand mother killled all his children because her grand fsther is witch craft; Actually alll these are part of our culture but y cant u make it more scientific that you can understand... Also in all parts of nigeria there are several school of martial art ; u can use some of the boys in your movies or build a martial art school only for film acting like nollywood martial art. I watched afonja and all the historic films, they are not world standard because there is no serious fight, no actions other than incantations. Bokoharam, isis, are enough storiess to make action films if u cant develop you own story; The army unjust killings of the shiite group ; fulani herdsmen killings they are enough stories to present to nigerians I know a way that the world will know what is happening in Nigeria...Moreso we have election killings and riots not to mention the past events like the june 12. I will say, stop such move and give nigerians the better taste of what the chinese movies or koreans are giving by developing the industry. Mind you; koreans and chinese are not better than any other ciuntries in the world in martial art competions like taekwondo , kungfu, karate, kickboxing; judo, boxingand all others and these will also help us in developing our own indeginous martial art and culture like dambe in hausa; gbanma in owo ondostate, ijakadi and several others, the industry can make a movie that will include all these form of indeginous martial and sell iit to the world our own martial art.... |

it is not bad to dub any language movie in to any other language. if the movie . content is good than it must dub to watch for every one in world. in India there are many south Indian language movie (south Indian languages are very very difficult to understand for other parts of Indian) in to Hindi language and they do good business. one Indian Movie recently dubbed and released in china and movie did highest business in china (more than the business of India and other country). 1 Like |

hayoakins:We don't need it. The Mexican and Chinese films can be dubbed into English. A lot of people will still be able to watch and understand it. The problem with many of these satellite TV Channels, is that they need a lot of content. They don't have enough shows to fill up their timelines. Instead of spending money to produce new programmes, they find it cheaper and easier to bring their old films to Nigeria, and dub it into local languages, in order to fill up the screens with enough number of programmes. |

Bhaveshmanek:That is India. The audiences and the market in India is very different from the ones in Nigeria. This is Nigeria. Most people in Nigeria can easily watch and understand Indian films dubbed into English. So why dub them again into local languages? To achieve what? More viewership or more advert support? They are making a huge mistake. The TV owners feel they will get more viewers and adverts, if they show their movies in local languages. But experience shows that it is not true. If local languages were a yardstick for commercial success, all those producers and actors of Arewa and Yoruba films, would have been multimillionaires and billionaires. But in reality, many of them are not, and only live from hand to mouth. Very few achieve commercial success. Even the advert agencies, don't partronise them as much as they patronise producers and actors of Nollywood English movies. Go and check. The highest grossing movies that earn the greatest revenues both at the box office and on air in Nigeria, are just the Nollywood English speaking movies. In the short term, foreign Chinese film owners may get more viewers of their movies dubbed into local languages, but they will never get more adverts to support such movies. |
