They are not people e you want having any part of your economy, take it from me. Their atrocities in Nigeria are unbelievable. Selling expired rice, removing airbags from cars, round tripping forex, import waivers, etc etc. if there is any scandal in Nigeria they have a hand

That said every big business uses their influence to gain favour. But which industry does Dangote operate where he is the only one? Is he the only one in cement or Sugar....which?

can you substantiate your allegations? dangote is the dominant one because of government backed monopoly, only the likes of bua can compete with him now.

1st of all go and check the meaning of monopoly. there is no industry Dangote operates in where you are have no choice but to buy his products so he is not a monopoly. I can't remember when last I bought anything Dangote. While you are checking the meaning of monopoly and since google is your friend, just google vaswani, stallion and their numerous scandals

while you are awaiting admission for night school, let me help you: there are no "different types of monopoly"

A monopoly (from Greek μόνος mónos ("alone" or "single" and πωλεῖν pōleîn ("to sell") exists when a specific person or enterprise is the only supplier of a particular commodity (this contrasts with a monopsony which relates to a single entity's control of a market to purchase a good or service, and with oligopoly which consists of a few sellers dominating a market

there is nothing like "monopolistic competition", it's a misnomer...you may want to check the dictionary for that as well.

As far as Ibeto, correct me if I am wrong but Ibeto was only bagging imported cement. His problems are due to the fact that imported cement is too expensive once Dangote started. There are 5 cement manufacturers in Nigeria lafarge, CCNN, Dangote, UCC and Ashaka. Anybody else in cement is an importer.


Nonetheless Ibeto is currently setting up his own proper cement manufacturing plant...nobody is stopping him, as you can see the chinese company building Ibeto's plant for $390m is the same one that has built $9B worth of cement plants across Africa. If Dangote wanted to frustrate Frustrate Ibeto, he would have prevented them from building cement plants for anybody in Nigeria. Companies have such clauses in their contracts all the time. My compnay has a clause with some of our foreign consultants that they cannot work with anyone in Nigeria while they work for us and for 1-2 years after they leave us.
