justwise: Thank you but the checklist stated that a letter confirming studentship must be included with application. UI is pretty good at frustrating one's plans. It is well.... |

Sallah120: Check your messages thoroughly. Sometimes it shows no new messages but there's a new one you haven't opened yet. It usually follows with an email telling you of the new changes to you application. However, if you have checked like this and there's actually none just be patient. It only means they are working on your application. Good luck sir. |

ajobi21:You said you were refused for purpose of visit and ties to Canada. It seems to me u might not have convinced them enough in those 2areas even though u might have good ties in Naija and good travelling history..did u have an invitation letter from your host in Canada? Did u state clearly what your purpose of visit and duration of visit would be? Just my 2cents though |

ajobi21:Apologies for delayed response. Everybody has been quite bizi I guess. This is the end of the year and so, deliveries tied to a deadline need to be concluded before year-end hence, the delay in people's response to your case. Now, concerning your ties in canada...did you submit any invite and what's the status of the person inviting you...does he/she have enough funds to host you and did you submit proofs alongside your application? If your intended travel was on tourism, you don't need any invite but you must state clearly in your itinerary, places and events of interest you wanted to attend. Hope you did all these. If you've not exceeded your stay while in the UK and US and you've got a good job, you might just have to relax, for now and reapply a few months later because the current economic situation of our country isn't funny at all. Applicants, who have not abused visa privileges in their entire lives and haven't been refused visas in the past just like you, were refused Canada visa in recent times. I remember that banker with his family who submitted quite impressive documents alongside their applications with valid US visa on their passports. They were still refused eventually. In the past, case-specific applications wouldn't have issues. Even if the event an applicant was going to attend had passed, he/she would still get a Canada visa, if the VO is satisfied with the visa application but in recent times, a case-specific application was refused. It's not funny. I read it here that the reason for refusal was that, the event he was going for, had passed. I had applied to attend a training in the past and a decision was made a few days after the end of the training. I still got my visa and the training was rescheduled by our manufacturer due to this... I got 4 years multiple. A lot of applicants here who wanted to go for tourism, conferences and annual leave were issued visas after their intended missions had passed. All these happened this year. If you earn 2m monthly, as a family person, it's just 3,225USD and might not be considered to be enough for a family visa application because you're expected to have responsibilities and bills to settle out of the salary, on a monthly basis. Try and work on your finances and leave enough balances in your account before you reapply. While the US VO might consider your travel history in approving your visa application without dwelling much on your asset and finances in most cases, Canada will go beyond that. Your ties, personal assets and finance and travel history are considered as key factors by CIC in the course of their decisions in most cases . In my opinion, don't sound desperate by reapplying immediately. Try and give them some time. I've not tried applying for canada visa from USA but some said it had worked for them. You and spouse may reapply here in Nigeria since you work here. It's nothing to worry about. That you were refused now doesn't mean you won't be granted a visa when next you reapply. Just be honest with your documents, work on some weak areas and leave the rest in the hands of God. Cheers. 9 Likes |

@ Awelekiti..thank you for your detailed explanation. I guess my refusal is just a sign of the economic times we are in. I submitted invitation letter o ...someone who just got PR invited me (she has successfully invited her mum and sis reccently too). so i guess she should be quite eligible @ chco...thank you for your response. My purpose of visit was just christmas holiday oo...I don't know what else they want me to write. i just wan come flex 4 canada...shikena! 2 Likes |

Hello House, While appreciating all the members in this amiable forum for their contributions towards solving people's challenges/obstacles. God rewards you all abundantly. I am a Civil Servant with Lagos State Government, and also have a business I co-owned with my wife. However, I need this clarification for my propose application to Canada. Am planning to visit a family friend in Ontario in October 2017, she is a Permanent Resident, and Willing to send an invitation to me once am set. I currently hold a USA (B1/B2) valid visa, expiring in March 2018, a France Visa, expiring in May 2017, and have visited France, The Netherlands and South Africa twice each. My inquiries, what month is most advisable for me to apply since am planning the traveling for October 2017? Also, I need the list of the documents required . From my invitee, the list of documents I will need to put together? So, the preparation can commence early enough without any delay. While appreciating your warm response. Respectfully. 2 Likes |

Prince1980:If you're applying online, you may apply any moment from now because it takes time to process. Paper application is faster....may not take more than 3 months max. if you choose to apply via paper route, you won't be able to use your passport until after a decision is made on your application because you must submit your passport alongside your application. With online application, you don't have to submit your passport with your application. You can travel with it whilst your online application is queuing for processing. As regards documents to submit alongside your application, the list is inexhaustible. Please take your time to go through all the comments on this thread from the first page to the last one. You'd definitely find what you need here. Good luck. 1 Like |

Good morning all! A quick one here please. Preparing myself for a situation. The gurus in the house should kindly guide as I really didn't find the kind of situation in the thread while going through (unless I'm mistaken). A situation where one goes the online route and is approved God willing for instance, and is asked by His grace to forward his/her passport to the embassy, and the individual now has got a child between time of application and now, what will be the way to getting a visa for the baby back of the parent approved visa? Thanks in anticipation! Cc: Thebaft, Hotstepper, Jayfierce, Awelekiti, Bigfido, Redreact, and other gurus |

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by thebaft: 8:26pm On Dec 23, 2016 |
DebsMed: So sorry for the delay. My take is that you would also have to apply for a visa for the baby. According to the IRCc website, "Children under the age of 18 are considered minors in Canada. They must follow the same rules to enter Canada as any other visitor." http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/minors.asp 1 Like |

DebsMed:Good evening. With your previous explanation, I guess you're still awaiting the outcome of your online application by faith and you put to bed along the wait line . Gongrats! Your baby will also need visa o. You may go the paper route to make the process faster. However, you will need to explain the situation in a letter to the VO and still include all the documents with which you applied for your visa, including your previous and current visa pages in your baby's application. I wouldn't know what your mission in canada was, in the first place. If it was for birthing purpose, it's fine otherwise, you'd have to convince the VO beyond doubts, that your intention wasn't to go and give birth(against your purpose of visit as indicated on your application form) because it would be assumed that you knew your EDD and so, must have been advised not to travel by your Dr...except the Dr says otherwise. Please think about this before you apply for your baby's visa. I had a cousin who wanted to visit the UK in 2003 with his wife. The same was experienced by his wife. Though their main purpose of visit was to give birth in the UK before returning. Since they both had 2 years multiple visa, they had to suspend their proposed trip till the next annual leave. You may also wish to defer your travel, if your visa's validity is up to one year to be on a safe side. Cheers 1 Like |
