greenermodels:#1-- And who financed the "lag mkt specific" programme in kebbi ? Where was it bagged?? Wasn't the partnership officially signed early this year?? #2-- Did govt "take over" the selling of rice? I.e are rice marketers now banned? Shops closed?? Govt is selling ITS OWN RICE, same way govt came with BRT, bus drivers & their sympathisers complained like govt was gonna put them out of biz. 5years+ down the line commercial buses are still working and their buses filled up...despite the expansion of BRT to ikorodu. Also google SNAP USA so u see how US fed govt also provides subsidies n assistance in food matter. Please be more analytical when talking in public. If bayelsa and rivers state especially had any vision they'd follow lagos state's lead in agric People should be lauding the project not hating. |

whats wrong with them paying via pos? Why cant they go to the designated banks and pay using the regular tellers and collect their rice? I don't understand why people in administration make these things unnecessarily difficult. With a few men of the Nigerian police in the premises they could even collect cash directly and have it sent to the bank at the end of the day. Even a regular market woman would handle this better with much finesse. They need to put young intelligent people into positions to manage some of these things, not all these 1947 way of doing things, government did a good job in the partnership for the production of the rice, its about time we infuse technology into doing things and reap the benefits. |

nigeria never learns Sad part is history keeps repeating itself for those who never reads it. This scene and story reminds me exactly in the 80s particularly during this same shameless regime of BUHARI, which is synonymous to suffering, when Nigerian where being whipped by Soldiers while queuing for Essential Commodities from the then NNSC. Haba Baba Bihari. For how long Seems we are just beginning . |

| Re: Lagosians Complain Bitterly About Lake Rice Trouble by willibounce1(m): 12:50pm On Dec 24, 2016 |
These people dragging to buy rice have been eating rice since the day they were born. They have been eating rice from January to October... how they were buying it nobody knew or heard anything about it. We did not see any queue for rice in June, July till December meanwhile people have been eating rice. Lake rice is out and selling for 12k and everybody wants to eat lake rice. Gold det inside the rice? Abi Christmas day rice tastes differ even from normal day rice? Nigerians really like to suffer themselves. If lake rice didn't come out, I'm sure people will still buy whatever rice they see without having to queue or make any noise. |

Well I think I understand the process. It's most likely to male sure that those involved in the distribution don't shortchange the government either by selling only to their friends and family or arbitrarily increasing the price of the rice and pocketing the difference (if they were collecting cash. With the bank and teller system, no matter how much the distributors increase the price by, all the money would still go to the government because none of them would actually be handling cash). Of course, I believe there has to be a better, more seamless way to do these things but this is their first try at this so it wasn't expected to go exactly smoothly. Hopefully they would work out the kinks in the current system or come up with a better, more efficient system of sales and distribution. Those of us on social media need to pressure the government too to make sure they understand that this current format is not efficient or effective. |

We lack sense of efficient and seamless organization of anything here. I knew the sale of this commodity would be cumbersome and ill-planned. Why would you subject humans to such hardship just to sell food stuffs. If you can register as a voter under 3 minutes in the US, I dont see why you have to queue and queue for days for PVC here. It's just sad |

onatisi:What exactly is your point? This is a new product in market, more nutritious and cheaper, are the issues facing it now not expected? What exactly is the scam here? Is it that the rice is not sold for 12k or the rice is non existent? Is this initial rush anf hassles not expected? In b/w we are seeing this happening unlike somr states claiming 9k but only existent in news paper pages like the phantom ugwu exportation. U really need to grow up from this childish senseless hate. I hope i am clear? |

Nigerians are a very wicked set of people. Can you Imagine a location in magbon alade in Ibeju LGA are not selling and there are lake rice on ground with a trailer of lake rice on ground as well. The people there are just about 50 people wanting to buy and they are not selling the rice and today is a day to xmas. There plans are to divert the rice, rebag it and sell elsewhere as foreign rice at a high Cost. This is a call to Lagos state Government, they should call the people handling the rice scheme at Magbon alade to order. Please share this message around |
