onatisi:Rather, Buhari is unlucky as the CBN governor made most of the policies at the time our economy went into recession without a minister of finance. Unless you didn't understand the article, it is the CBN governor that banned the 41 items not the finance minister so he is responsible for the further depreciation and closing of over 200 factories. |

adanny01:Who insisted that he wont devalue or float the naira when the situation was still manageable and the whole intellectual community was shouting and warning? Wasn't it buhari who kept saying that he wasn't convinced and this even made his own party member pat utomi to ask him to shut up and stop talking on matters he has no knowledge about., the ban on this 41 items came as a result of the dullard president inability to see and think clearly the situation on ground. The cbn governor had no choice then but to ban these items . If not for the unorthodox policies of the cbn governor ,the exchange rate would have gone high as 1000N. I keep saying it ,buhari is the only problem facing Nigeria today, remove buhari from power ,install a sensible leader as president ,don't change the ministers and see if they wont perform wonders . Until you really understand who buhari isb,you wont understand the real potential economic crisis Nigeria is in

The guy (Addicted2Women) apparently is not in Nigeria. He is probably happy with the current situation here since he sees some appreciation in his measly earnings over there when he converts to naira........not his fault though, na Buhari cause am. abbaapple: |

tainot2002:If this was said by the CBN Governor then I know he has Nigeria at heart for implementing his policies of banning 41 products or whatever, though we are suffering the pains now but I think it worths the pain. For there is no gain without pain. |

onatisi:When Buhari refused to permit the CBN float the Naira, who repeatedly asked him to do it? The CBN governor. When he was allowed to do it finally what happened? The CBN governor devalued but realized it will not work and he started controlling it again. Its a known fact that every economist knows that as long as we remain a mono product economy, the Naira will always be pressured especialy when the price of this product falls. There is no amount of devaluing that will solve our problem other than reducing imports. Reducing the import cannot be done by bans as most items are essential. The only way to go is agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism etc. which of these can we assume to have been upgraded to the level of exporting products that will reduce pressure on the Naira like the crude has been doing? Buhari cannot do magic, call him dullard or illiterate, it wont change any fact. Those of us who are enlightened and devoid of political bias know the problem Nigeria faces and how to tackle it. We also know how right or wrong government's approach to these issues are. |
