But why is the Governor afraid to do something about the Okadas that have taken over the roads and endangering the lives of people? Even shopping in the Business Districts (Tinubu Square, Idumota, Balogun, Jankara, Adeniji Adele etc) is no more a pleasure. Crossing or walking on most roads on the Mainland is a nightmare, especially for the elderly. The Governor should do something, FAST!!
Re: Lagos Removes Bottlenecks On Lekki Way by chuksfredrick: 8:24am On Dec 28, 2016
Truth be told, there's still serious traffic at that Jakande roundabout, The only best solution to terminate traffic there is a Flyover, take a very good look at AJAH then you will know how far!
Re: Lagos Removes Bottlenecks On Lekki Way by nedu2000(m): 8:28am On Dec 28, 2016
Why not flyovers? Like the costain-stadium-ojuelegba axis. Installing traffic lights along the lekki/epe expressway is like doing so along the asaba/onitsha or benin/ore road. That road is too big for that. Traffic should always move
Re: Lagos Removes Bottlenecks On Lekki Way by Kulas: 8:38am On Dec 28, 2016
I have been in this side of lagos for years and have been plying this road steadily even yesterday and I MUST confess that Amobode is my best governor among all the past governors Lagos produced, even though I am not APC,will campaign for him.Fashola wasted funds constructing useless expansive numbers of roundabouts from Lekki to Ajah.Ambode,we are very grateful for giving us this.God bless you.

I've been saying this. The effect of traffic lights and lay-bys will be negligible. The volume of traffic is simply too much for this.
Another cheap (and not so effective) alternative would have been to move the locations for vehicles to make u-turns from the present roundabouts to less busy sections along the route.
Re: Lagos Removes Bottlenecks On Lekki Way by bigtt76(f): 8:59am On Dec 28, 2016
Very true! The traffic needs to be in continuous flow but you know Lagos drivers naaaa ....even if they dedicate the inner lanes for those turning left, those going straight would still occupy that lane causing even more delays. Same with the outer lanes ....those danfos would create even bigger bottlenecks than was experienced before.

Government should just repair/rebuild the road that passes through the Eleguishi beach as a detour for those going to Jakande Estate and others. I even learnt that road can burst out at Ajah sef. That is the only solution here. You cannot have many estates on that axis and just one straight road to and fro ....its a big security risk.

I have been looking for an avenue to express my feelings with respect to the governor of Lagos state. I was not his fan before the 2015 election, i supported Jimi. And just after he was sworn into power, armed robbery cases increased and traffic congestion also increased, my language then was I told you...... Lagosians, i am retrieving that statement " I Told you" the governor is just beating my imaginations with his performance so far. Governor, come 2019, you will get my vote, that of my wife and those i will tell about you. How i wish i can say this about Buhari
Re: Lagos Removes Bottlenecks On Lekki Way by opribo(m): 9:27am On Dec 28, 2016
Whatever happened to getting it right, first time and on time. Those gigantic roundabouts never ever made sense and were unnecessary in the first place when a single service lane would have done it for people branching off into the side streets or estates, but you know when I saw the construction company and I investigated and I discovered the chairman, I knew shit was the outcome because he calls the shots in Lagos.

This will only work differently only when it affects his business concerns. BTW since the extra toll gate at Chevron is not functional they might as well pull it down to make way for smooth traffic. I wonder when they waste tax payers funds on thoughtless projects who is punished for it,

the biggest traffic bottle neck on that road is.. the Toll-gate and lack absence of flyover
Re: Lagos Removes Bottlenecks On Lekki Way by idupaul: 10:34am On Dec 28, 2016
The only solution to that road would be flyovers so the traffic continues moving non stop

That Lekki axis is nonsense where you sleep in traffic everyday. It was not properly planned. Even going to Aja especially (Aja market) you will end up spending hours as if you are going to the North

Well said! My sentiments as well. The removal of the roundabout will help, but not the ultimate solution. Best solution would have been to provide u turn loops at areas where you cant go across the road, let people turn back fro say 300m before negotiating to the right. i'e the loops should be like midway between the current roundabouts.

Just replicate the Northern expresway and Airport Road designs in Abuja. It eil cut down the go slows by 50%.

Only those that know much about the kind of heavy traffic on this road can testify that Ambode is trying.Do u know that on a working day, that somebody that close work by 5pm in VI and stays in ajah, most time for somebody that left ajah to Benin by same 5pm will reach Benin before you reach ajah from VI
Re: Lagos Removes Bottlenecks On Lekki Way by EnigmaticEnigma(m): 6:48pm On Dec 29, 2016
I'm sorry, but I just don't think this will work out too well.

I passed there today and my fears are already coming to fruition; no lane discipline whatsoever undecided

People on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lane all wanted to turn left at the same time, blocking those who simply wanted to keep going straight.

Maybe in time, people would understand the new route, but not that hopeful.

Honestly, there was really not much with that roundabout at Jakande, but driver illiteracy and traders.

If the government was serious, the would have cleared all the traders and parked cars from that Jakande rounabout. Usually, people would take the outermost lane (3rd lane) as a parking a trading spot. You'd see multiple danfos parked there, you'd see traders items spilling to the road and so on. I just kept asking myself, isn't this part of the roadhuh Why waste a lanehuh

The illiteracy was just annoying, cause people hardly ever kept to their lanes at the roundabout. They'd be on the middle lane approaching the roundabout, then swerve all the way to the left lane at the roundabout, then swerve back to the middle lane once the road goes straight again.

Anywho, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I commend the Governor however, we need to wait till work resumes proper before we can judge.

That route is a nightmare.
