Don't look down: At 1,340 metres (4,396 feet) long, the four-lane structure is billed as the world's highest bridge in the world.

The completion of the ambitious project means that eight of the world's 10 highest completed bridges are now located in China almost all are situated in remote mountainous provinces, according to highestbridges.com.

If you've ever been to Montreux Switzerland, you'd find something as tall as this there,may not be the longest though.

I Think that is the work of those steal cable .they are creating a kind of equillibrum in the middle .you will notice the pillars at which the bridge is suspended on is.not sitting at exactly 90° .

Amazing engineering at its peak.

Funny thing, do you believe that each of those cables will be as thick as the attached picture?

It belongs to Golden Gate Bridge, San Fransisco.

Suspension cables.. The loads are transferred through the cables to the piers, which in turn transmit the loads down to the foundations.

F=ma...

force is equal to the product of mass × acceleration (due to gravity).

Those steel cables attached to the braces by the side of the bridge at specific intervals makes up for the equilibrium position of the places without pillar support...

The structural and civil engineers would have calculated the expansivity of the asphalt used, total tensile stress and strain against the force of gravity and mass of the total number of vehicles and their acceleration to manufacture the steel cables strong enough to compliment the weight and tip the total equilibrium position of the bridge to "balance"...

I'm just saying.

Yes.I think d pics below should explain better.The main steel cables are extremely thick. Each main cable is composed of smaller cables bound together to form an extremely strong single cable.
