When Xabi Alonso scored twice to defeat France 2-0 in QF, I don't know what contribution they thought Alonso brought to the table. He completed the most passes in the tourney, and had the telling end product to win that QF.

Semifinal was 0-0 with Portugal.

Final was 4-0 in which Xavi made 2 sumptuous assists and Pius Iniesta was just dribbling ole upandan with no assist.

David Silva also contributed to 5 goals (highest of the tournament) vs Iniestas sole assist in the group stage.

Player of the tournament was Pirlo, followed by Xavi, followed by Alonso. Iniestas name was just popular because of World Cup golden goal and Pius Ikedia dribbles.
