This post is so awesome. Nonsense education. Where are the PhD holders and the master holders. Where are the first class now? But an uneducated man is your president and you call education success to life. Grow up

University education should be scrapped except for Researches on Medicine, Engineering, Science/Tech and Law. In fact, I remember how they taught me nonsense on computer science at Unical those days. Cobol, Fotran, Basic and shiit. Drawing some silly flowchart and crazy shhit that has no relevance. What's my business with evolution of computers as a lesson/lecture in the University when a Primary School Kid can simply google the meaning and move on. Crazy shit if you ask me. Someone will actually cram a fucking periodic table. What for ? Damn! My advise is, the educational system needs to be reviewed. The present University curriculum is archaic and should be taught in Primary Schools. Secondary Schools level curriculum should be replaced with Masters curriculum; While University should be for research only. Am a geh outta here.

As much as I like your post, let me state some facts: if you graduate with a 2.2 or 3rd class, you can never ever work in a multinational company.

You can't directly do your masters in Canada, you must do pre degree of some sort. So many perks comes with good grades but it doesn't guarantee any success and financial freedom. Schools train you to be experts in a field, the rest should be done by our parents and self discovery.

The fault lies with Nigerian schools not schools in the western world that equip their students mentally. The greatest fault lies with Nigerian parents as they have failed to educate kids on financial freedom and how to make it in life.
The rich parents are busy giving hand me downs to their kids. How many rich kids have successfully founded their own companies, they always take over.
The poor parents are too religious and leech off their kids who would go to any length to belong to the upper class, most not all.
If you have a 2.2 or a 3rd class, you cannot work in a multinational company?? shocked shocked Where did you hear such fallacy?? I know chaps with 2.2 and 3rd class degrees that have worked successfully in multinational firms. One of them not only worked for a multinational financial institution, but was also transferred to different countries by the same company, to carry out various assignments on their behalf! shocked

What matters most are the skill sets you bring into that company, and how quickly you are able to learn and adapt to the firm's internal structure, by meeting your deliverables. undecided

Seasoned HR practitioners (not the lazy ones who rely on recruitment apps and your social media profile to hire you), look at more than just the class of degree you graduated with, in order to hire you. sad At the interview stage, a lot of factors come into play before a hiring decision is reached.

I have had cause to interview graduates who left school with a 2.1 degree and I have been less than impressed, in many cases! undecided

It is easy to spot people with small shallow minds, when they are talking.

I agree with the OP but some instructors tell you the truth. My very first clinical instructors told me face blank that gpa doesn't equal success and she had never hired a nurse based on her gpa but rather her personality. She literally told me it's good to want to have a great gpa but education isn't all about gpa and it was the learning that mattered.

Did I believe her then? No.

Do I believe her now? Yeah.
There is more to education than reading to pass exams and there is more to success than education. At the end of the day everyone's definition of success is different. We can't all entrepreneurs and we can't all work under someone. I think it helps if individuals have their own goals and start working towards it before graduating. Sometimes it involves simple steps like becoming more proactive or even reading books on self improvements or books by mentors. Socializing a little, making connections and making use of opportunities that come by.
Exactly what I've been telling some undergraduates... Do they listen to me? No......will they listen later? Yes.....

No one told me these things back in school but i was able to meet so many people outside my faculty (i made some connections which still serves me till date)......
I always tell people: "what you Learn in your classroom(lecture hall) is very important BUT what you learn outside your Lecture hall and the connections you make is the ULTIMATE!".....

If they had told you, would you have believed them? Besides it wasn't part of the course outline.

If your parents did not tell you how do you expect a stranger to?

Anyways, I think your education paid off, how else would you have written this long essay?
